This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning everyone.
Another dull day here I suspect. Lots of grey cloud around.
Yesterday I did my whizz down to Glasgow and back and not too much else.
Today a neighbour needs help with stuck email and then there's a wee evening drinks 'do' for a couple of hours with another neighbour. They are both far away enough to need the car so I can easily only have one drink.
Happy Friday everyone.0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
It's very frosty here this morning but the sun is shining and I'm sure it's going to be a lovely day. Hubby has just left for work but he's only on a half day so will be back at lunchtime. The girls are getting ready for school with the usual moaning and groaning. They break up next Wednesday so they will just have to tough it out till then.
I have ordered a large shop from Tescos so that is being delivered this evening. I am having a break from real cooking so there is lots of easy to prepare food coming. I have very little energy by teatime so it's a struggle to get dinner made unless I have done all the prep in the morning. I am having a lot of visitors at the moment so I cannot get stuff ready and I am finding it very hard. It won't hurt my family to eat fishfingers and the like for a few days so I am not going to beat myself up about it.
I have a new knitting project, my friend has asked me to make an Easter bunny for her daughter so I need to get cracking on with it. I am hoping for a few hours today to make a start although I have just been informed that my eldest is coming round to see me this morning. Oh well, I would rather spend time with her. My grand daughter was in a play at her school yesterday and my daughter has filmed it for me to see.
I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning everyone
Thanks for starting us off Gers.
Hugs to those that need/want them x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early. DS1 still in his pit on days off. DS2 just got out of the shower - he's on a fitness regime and has been for a run, he'll be eating brekkie shortly and then going to school.
Now light, but damp underfoot and drizzly, dull and dreich - looks set in for the day.
Dinner last night was gammon, egg, roasted herby new potatoes, peas and parsley sauce, ice cream for dessert. Tonight will be lasagne, chips and salad for the menfolk, I'll be having jacket potato and salad.
Yesterday I continued with the washing, drying and ironing, I did all the ironing - but there now appears to be more, as the dirty wash basket seems to breed more washing - will sort this at some point today.
This morning I'll be heading to the SM shortly - I try to get there early as I once made the mistake of going 11am ish on a Friday - never ever again - it was a complete nightmare that started when I spent ages trying to find a parking space! I go early to avoid this and generally get in and out by 9am ish or just after.
I would like to get some baking/cooking done this afternoon, if I can summon up some energy to do it - my get up and go seems to have got up and gone! I need to have a proper baking session so I have some supplies in the tins, I then realise how much money it saves and also how much easier it is for desserts or when the menfolk want a snack - must try to do this today.
Have good Fridays' everyone x
Keep safe and well x

Morning all,
Bright but blowy day, off to work for me, but its Friday :jand its my weekend off :j:j
Take away tonight and plenty of wine to wash it down, had my shopping delivered last night and ordered a bit of fresh horseradish to try with my roast, not tried it fresh before, so looking forward to it.
Evie has a vets appointment tomorrow just for a general health check and to make sure her jabs are up to date.
Right better get on have good days all xx0 -
Morning All
Very grey today and a bit drizzly, yesterday didn't really brighten up till about 5pm, the washing was still quite damp but smelled fresh anyway.
Went to the dentist to have this crown sorted and ended up having the tooth out and a temporary plate put in until the gum is well enough to have a bridge fitted. I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself but not in pain so that's ok.
Meeting friends for a coffee later then up to DDs, she's taking me out to dinner - somewhere I've wanted to go for a while. I'll stay there tonight and we'll have a potter about tomorrow, she got free tickets to an 'allergy' show, could help with what makes me feel poorly.
Have a good Friday, I'm here with my Sport Relief T shirt on (they only had XL so it's a bit tent like). Take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone, I got home last night after a very intensive few days working away. Basically, because of the distance involved, 4 - 5 hours by train, I have compressed 4 -6 week's work into 2 days, which is tiring for the people I was working with but difficult to manage otherwise, given the travel time.
Oh dear, what a lot of washing. Oh dear, grubbalicious bathroom floor. Oh dear, beds to change.
I will have to work today but at home and the washing machine can chug along in the background. Not sure if stuff will dry as it is still and misty but it should dry a bit at least.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning everyone,
Cloudy and wet here this morning, the damp makes Tilly spaniel's ears go curly so she is looking v cute at the moment
Need to get to the SM this morning as have run stocks down low, need to get some Easter Eggs and liked the look of the ones in Aldee's, really like their spelt crispbreads as well and half the price of Kargs.
Other than that it will be getting a bit of housework done ready for the weekend as Saturday especially is looking very busy.
Hope everyone has a good day, take care all x0 -
Morning all.
You can cut the atmosphere with a knife in my house. Hubby blew a fuse at youngest last night coming back from work which left youngest quaking in his boots. Youngest said he'd never seen him so mad. Youngest suggested stopping off for food before setting off home. Firstly the food was awful and they got their money refunded. Then hubby said he was too tired to drive back and Youngest isn't insured on his car so it was all Youngests fault.
Youngest spent the whole drive back with his head stuck in his phone and that wasn't right either...but he was messaging me for support as he said he just wanted to cry.
Hubby was all sweetness and light by the time he got home and still managed to watch 3 hours of !!!! TV.
'at least you can leave home' I tried to make light of the situation 'I'm stuck with him'.
I'm trying to work out whether to have a word with hubby about it or whether it will start him off again.
Hubby has just taken the car for repairs. There's a list a mile long of things that need fixing and it needs an MOT as it runs out whilst we will be away.
Dunno what today will bring..days like this it's best not to plan.
Onwards and forwards

Morning ((((((((((hugs))))))))))if you need one. We have had a power cut during the night. Every thing is flashing that has clocks on.
It's a dull morning here, OH has to get his INR checked so will be off to see Dracula In a short while.
I am feeling quite a bit better this morning, I plan to strip the hall dresser and clean it this morning.
Did any one watch the Obsessive Compulsive programme that was on TV a couple of nights ago. I just could not believe the state of those two houses. Even in my darkest depression my house never got like either of those, although I could well understand how it happened.
My dil developed OCD after her youngest child was born. It lead to the marriage breaking down after a she made my son and granddaughter strip all their clothes off and sit naked on the kitchen floor whilst she washed the clothes. She would allow no one in the house to visit because they brought germs with them.
Time to get my body out of bed and get something done........bye for now.0 -
Morning all. I'm a late comer this morning as I've been lead a merry dance by the DGDs since the minute they got up! Mr TA took them all to school and I collapsed with a strong coffee! DW to empty from last night, a mountain of washing up waiting to go in, their beds all to sort out, WM needs to go on etc etc before I can even make a start on the Friday clean up. I'm getting too old for all this!
Yesterday was glorious and so warm in the sunshine. Went food shopping in the morning and in the afternoon finally got round to attacking the scruffy, mucky patio. It looks so much better! Today we have cloud and I don't think it's forecast to lift.
My BSD book was delivered yesterday but not had chance to read through it yet, other than a quick flick through it. I'm not sure that I am impressed by the look of a lot of the recipes! Busy weekend ahead as we are over to open the caravan up, erect the awning and transport a mountain of stuff back over so no time for devoting to diet plans! I think it will be next week before I can plan and shop for the extras needed.
Have a good day all (((HUGS))) where wanted/needed and take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0
