We always used the sink - I think most people did in the "olden days". One lot of water to wet it, then shampoo over the sink, first rinse in that water, change water and rinse again as necessary.

We didn't wash our hair in the bath. Too soapy if it was a soft water area, too scummy if it was hard water
Me too - but never mind the olden days, I'm doing this now! I live on top of a hill, water pressure's so low that showering is only possible if you get an expensive power-shower installed, so the jug-and-sink method is quite normal. It's also water-saving - I can wash my hair in about 3 litres of water.

I'm the same herblily, never had a shower and never really cared lol. I wash my hair every day leaning over the side of the bath using a jug.

I fill my bath not putting in any soap/bubble bath, then lean over it and wash hair, rinse with a jug. There is enough water in the bath to rinse without running more from the taps. Wrap head in towel and get in the bath for a good scrub.

In between baths I wash hair in the kitchen sink, with two kettles of hot water, one for washing one for rinsing, I use a mug. Then I wash the kitchen floor with the rinsing water. No hot water in taps because I only heat the tank up when I have a bath.

Fill bath with plain water of the required temperature
Bend over or kneel beside bath
Wash hair over bath using a jug or mug to tip the water
    Rinse using water from bath
Get in bath, enjoy bath with bubbles from rinsed-off shampoo (no bubble bath in our house in the olden days)
  • All of this sink lark seems like too much contorting for my neck. Do you go head down or up? I think I'd have water all over the floor.

I have a bath, shampoo, rinse by dunking in bathwater, condition, dunk in bathwater, then chuck a jug of clean water over to rinse any bubblebath water from my hair.
It only takes a second to say 'Thanks, you just saved me a few quid!'
