20% restocking fee?
Comments

They're acting illegally.
Under the consumer contract regulations, they need to give you 14 days from receiving the goods to cancel and then a further 14 days from the day you cancel to actually send the goods back.
They can only make a deduction:
1) Where your handling goes beyond what is necessary to establish the characteristics, functioning etc of the goods (think what you might be allowed to do in a shop)
2) That unreasonable handling diminished the value
3) If they informed you of this prior to the contract being concluded
I'd also report it to trading standards - its not the first time we've had a complaint about honeyz on here and hopefully TS will contact them and make them aware they are acting illegally. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
Hi,
I'm brand new to this site-hoping that I'm posting in the right place...
Can an online shop charge a restocking fee for a dress that I'm returning?
Honeyz.com charge a 20% restocking fee, which I've only just found out about after purchasing a dress for my daughter.
I'd never have used their site if I'd known about this fee. (In fact, this is the first time I've heard of this type of charge).
Also, I've got 2 other dresses on order for my daughter from them, and one of those will also be going back as I ordered two different sizes for her to try.
The dress only arrived today and I'm intending returning it tomorrow morning.
The 2 extra dresses that I ordered this evening, I'd like to now cancel, since seeing the restocking fee, I have emailed them but customer service is closed until 10am tomorrow. By which time, the order will probably be processed.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

You mean, like, being able to try on clothes to check if they fit and the style suits you?0 -

I've just found some reviews for Honeyz.com online. It seems that they're not keen to give refunds without at least deducting money from people.
A customer has even been refused refund due to not returning the parcel via Honeyz preferred courier.
Had a sleepless night over this flippin' prom dress (actually, three dresses as it now is) and my husband will have an absolute fit with me if he finds out how dumb i've been.
I'm going to ring them when they open and try to cancel the other two sizes that I ordered for her.0 -
I read those reviews too.
Take all the advice above, and if you return anything make sure it's tracked , it's looking like they use myhermes.it may be beneficial to ask them when you return if you need to pay extra for the insurance if sending several items back- don't give them an inch.
Try also to keep your correspondance in writing eg email at this stage.0 -
"Calls made to our premium line 09131 300 143 are charged at £1.50 per minute plus your phone company’s access charge. If you would like to enquire about the premium service please email customercare@honeyz.com"
They also try"You may cancel your order at any time before it has been shipped. however we can only accept Cancellations notices via registered post to our HR Office. Suite 103, 1079 Pollokshaws Road, Glasgow, G41 3YG."0 -
Yes, you're right about keeping it in writing. I'd already emailed to ask them to cancel the other two dresses that I ordered last night.
I've just had a look at returning via Myhermes. They offer insurance and tracking options, so I'm going with that option.0 -
I couldn't find a reference to their so called ' preferred' courier on their website.
This is stated
"please contact them directly:
Collect+: 0151 479 7071 (Postcodes: BT1-BT99 Shoe Boxes / Handbags)
Parcel Force: 08448 00 44 66 (for All UK Mainland Orders)
Royal Mail: 08457 740 740 (Highlands and Islands)"0
