Hi
I have switched from extra energy to Scottish power due to extra allowing me to go over £600 in debt without saying. Anyway that's all clear now however they then wouldn't reduce my DD from £165 (which they randomly increased to from £55!). so I decided to leave. My changing date is 21st of this month so 4 days away. I gave Scottish power my meter readings as requested yesterday for them to then send to extra energy to allow them to close my account and send final bill etc. Now I am just starting a DMP and I have changed my bank. So all my DD are cancelled including EE but I thought well its doesn't matter as I can wait the final bill on paper and just pay it when it arrives. However today I was greeted by this email :
Your Direct Debit has been cancelled
We’ve received notification from your bank that you’ve cancelled your Direct Debit instruction. This means we won’t be able to collect your agreed payments.
Please provide your new Direct Debit details as soon as possible, by calling us on 0800 953 4777 or 0330 303 4777, so that we can set up a new Direct Debit instruction for you.
If you’ve missed a payment we’ll also need to take this from you, so please have your debit card available just in case.
We don't want you to pay more
It’s important that you contact us as soon as possible. If we don’t hear from you within 10 working days of the date of this correspondence, we’ll automatically switch you to non- Direct Debit prices. This means you’ll pay more for your energy.
In addition, if the payments you’ve made so far don’t cover your usage, you’ll need to pay the outstanding amount.
Keeping you informed
Below are the prices you’re paying as a Direct Debit customer and those you’ll pay if you’re moved to a non-Direct Debit payment method:
Direct DebitReceipt of Bill57.540 pence daily standing charge for gas71.924 pence daily standing charge for gas3.224 pence per kWh (Day) of gas3.224 pence per kWh (Day) of gas57.540 pence daily standing charge for electricity71.924 pence daily standing charge for electricity9.429 pence per kWh (Day) of electricity9.429 pence per kWh (Day) of electricity
If we have to contact you again, there will be a £12 charge added to your account to cover the cost of us doing so. We won’t charge this if you contact us now.
We really want you to continue enjoying the benefits of paying by Direct Debit and hope to hear from you soon.
Surely I don't have to set up a direct debit to pay their final bill 4 days prior to the switch!?!?

That is just a computer generated e-mail. Ignore it and when you get your (incorrect) final bill in about 6 - 8 months time it will be at the correct prices.0
