You should save your insults for the people creating the entries on the database. It's infinitely preferable that such database operators have no 'editorial' input to the data they hold as they cannot be in a position to make valid judgements.0

The BACS transfer was the only payment out of the ordinary and account closure was roughly 2/3 weeks later.
Either it was a fraudulent account or the buyer reported it rather than contact me to reverse the payment.
My wages are currently paid into my fathers account (the item I was selling was for him)
I will go down the SAR route ASAP, this incident happened about 12 months ago and I have read they stay on file for 13 months before changing to something else and being visible for six years.
The sad thing is I really like Barcleys, there mobile app was great. I fear by them opening then closing my account I may have burnt my bridges with them0 -

It's CIFAS that created this environment of irresponsible unpunishable libel that arrogant bank's pinkertons readily abuse.
Of course, some information that they innocently 'hold' is correct, but this doesn't justify 'holding' rumours and libel as well.
Just imagine an open sex offenders list that dozens of private companies and/or individuals could easily 'update' with their suspisions without having a second thought.0 -
Preferable by whom?
Of course it's easier for them to be in such position and wash their hands. Of course, it's a much harder work to make sure that all the information that they not just 'hold', but make widely available, is verifiable, reliable and can be easily seen and challenged by the affected people without these stupid SARs.

Good analogy.0 -
You're only meant to load CIFAS when you have confirmed fraud, suspicion isn't sufficient. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0

Someone else more high profile than your average MSE user seems to have had his accounts closed - by Barclays in this case.
He seems not happy and unlike MSEers' has enough money to make things very awkward for the banks - should all be very interesting to watch.

Hilarious, should be fun to follow.
Sounds like
- 'do you know who I am?'
- yes, and we don't want your money, thankyou.
well within their rights. The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0 -
As others have said you need to start with your credit reports. See if there are accounts and searches on there you don't recognise. It might be your file has been mixed up with someone with the same name, or your identity could have been stolen, which could be causing your problems. At least if you can get those from all 3 agencies, if you check them and make sure they list you on the electoral roll ok as well.
If it turns out something is wrong on those, then you'll need to talk to them to get wrong items removed if they are for another person for example, and notes added to make it clear what's happened to try and stop it happening in the future.MFW OP's 2017 #101 £829.32/£5000
