Medicare - Australia

Whilst I was recently in Australia I had to visit a GP and pay $99 for a consultation.

I can see lots of information online saying that as a UK resident I should be able to get my money back but I can't find any clear instructions / forms on how to do this anywhere?

Has anyone managed to do this who could help me please?

Many thanks!
"Buy me, Lady", said the frock, "and I will make you into a BEAUTIFUL & WHOLE & COMPLETE human being".
"Do not be silly", said the Man, "for a frock alone cannot do that".
"True", said the Lady, "I will have the shoes and the bag as well".

Do you have a Medicare card and an Australian bank account? If you do then it looks like you should be able to do it on the Medicare website. If not I don't think you can get it back now you've left the country and (presumably) aren't going back within a year of the treatment.

I'm back in the UK now. I didn't realise at the time so probably nothing I can do about it now.

Can any Australian apply for a Medicare card or do you have to be resident? I am an Australian citizen (dual nationality) but live/work in the UK.

    TIA

Yes, it was designed as an Australian program. We only get access to it because we let Australians use the NHS.

EDIT: I didn't notice the distinction you made for resident there - I don't know if Australian non-residents can get it. Though I assume by dual-nationality you mean you're a British citizen? British citizens are entitled to Medicare if they're just visiting.
