Deductions from deposit upon leaving tenancy

Hi all,
I moved out of a property on March 5th and am currently awaiting the return of our deposit, which is protected by MyDeposits.
I'm aware that the landlord proposes to make deductions, and I'll deal with that when it comes to it, but I still don't know what these amount to in value.
The 3P agency has advised that until the landlord finalises the proposed deductions, they cannot return the 'remainder' / undisputed amount, as they do not know the exact value of what this will be yet.
Today is now the 12th day since we left the previous property, and I'm still being advised we're waiting on finalisation of the deductions.
Is there anything I can do to speed this up? I could understand if a dispute had been raised, but right now, I just want the undisputed amount returned to me ..

As you are past day 10 You can now lodge a dispute with MyDeposits asking for the return of the deposit in full. You don't need to ask a second time as they (the agency) have acknowledged your request. You've asked for an update and they have acknowledged they got your request querying deductions so I would just go straight to a dispute direct with MyDeposits.Spelling courtesy of the whims of auto correct...

Hey, thanks for the reply.
Only reason I haven't done so yet is because I've spoken to MyDeposits to query a few things before, and they advised a dispute can take up to 3 months .. ! Concerned about potentially locking away the WHOLE amount of the deposit for that long0 -

Then get on the phone and agree a figure as soon as you can. I would be in the absence of any information be asking (demanding) for it's return in full. If they cannot agree a figure you're entitled to ask for the lot.
It may take up to 3 months yes that's true but you'll usually find you get much more back if not all of it by going through full dispute resolution. At the moment they want to claim of all the deposit for unknown reasons. They haven't even said what they are claiming for nor advised you that they need to get a few quotes before finalizing a figure just that the landlord hasn't agreed anything as of yet. The landlord has 10 days and that's been exceeded so ask for the lot.
They know where you live they can send you an invoice further down the line when they get their act together and figure out a figure. You can pay the bill then...if you don't agree with what they are asking for they'll have to take you to court to get the money out of you.:footie:

Thanks for the info., sorry I wasn't very specific - they've proposed reductions based on actual things they say are wrong, but they haven't yet confirmed how much for each thing. Would you still recommend asking for the full amount knowing this?0 -

A couple of small, justified things yes. Plus a clean supposedly, though we will fight that because their OWN inventory upon moving in listed cobwebs and dust, which they suggest were an issue when we moved out (despite us cleaning thoroughly).
@Mark, no I didn't take pictures very stupidly. Lesson learned, been completely picky on new inventory.
But yeah, I accept some will be lost, just peeved the delay is stopping me getting the undisputed back quickly.0
