Garden Quote

Hello all experienced gardeners!

I have just bought my first house (Essex) and I really want to get the garden done to a good standard so that I can have bbq's in the summer etc. I have been provided a quote, which is outlined below. I really liked the landscaper to be honest so I am reluctant to get a second quote (he also came of the back of a recommendation from a friend in terms of price and quality). I have had the quote checked by my friend who will be doing the actual gardening part aside from the fencing and paving and he said this is a very reasonable quote. Does anyone else have any comments? The paving totals approximately 40m2 - 45m2:

Right Side Fence.

Clear ivy from fence and pressure clean.
Paint all panels down right side of garden (materials included).

Total Cost £190

New Fence.

Remove and dispose of all fencing on back left of garden.
Supply and fit six 6'x5' Feather edge panels on 12" gravel boards and slotted concrete posts.
Supply and fit 6' tongue and groove legged and braced gate with all fittings.

Total Cost £696

Patio.

Excavate site for new patio on two levels. Clear all debris and spoil from site.
Supply and fit drainage channel along conservatory and garage walls.
Lay compacted granular sub-base for patio.
Supply and lay new patio paving (specified below) to design you supplied.

Black Limestone. Total Cost £3660.
Chinese Slate. Total Cost £3940.
Black Brazilian Slate. Total Cost £4260.

    How big is the patio?

    40-45m2

I have no idea on the patio side of things but the other 2 parts seem very reasonable if you get a good standard of work.

I would hazard a guess that the last part is reasonable as there is a fair bit of work involved in all of that.

    Regards

Might be a good idea to post over on the greenfingered forum, especially about the garden part of the quote.
Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...

  • That is very reasonable quote for everything. Patio is normally m2 times 70-80.
