O/S Daily Thursday 17 March 2016
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them x
Now light, it’s a bit misty but looks very cold and we’ve had a frost.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early. DS1 using up some more of his hols, so still in his pit. DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly so he can get ready for school.
Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg, ice cream for dessert. Tonight will be gammon, egg, roasted new potatoes, and peas.
Yesterday I wasn’t hugely productive, but did shove the hoover round, changed our bed, did some washing and drying, took DS2 and myself to the dentist. Did a couple of jobs on pc.
Today I'll definitely be getting the ironing done, and may then do some cooking/baking.
Had a telephone call last night to say that ill person within the family has been told there’s nothing more they can do, so not good news unfortunately.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning everyone.
Foggy outside, perhaps it'll burn off soon.
After my aborted plans yesterday I caught up on a few jobs in the house, burnt more papers outside and then sat in the sun for a while.
Today I'm off to Glasgow for the day. I originally intended to stay over with mum until Sunday but those plans changed too. Now I have to collect an order from M&S, do a little shopping and then home. I've got a steam mop to put together and try out!
Anyway, I hope everyone has a fine, sunny and happy Thursday.0 -
Morning All
Dull again this morning but I've stripped my bed and will put it out in a while. Yesterday didn't really brighten up but was dry. DW emptied.
Managed to get the grass cut last night (probably the earliest i've ever done it), it looks better but needs to 'green' up a bit, especially where I have trodden on it hanging out the washing on a frosty day!
I have a big date with the dentist after work, I've a crown that keeps coming loose so will have to have something else done, a temporary plate for now until the gum is well enough to have a bridge. The joys of getting older!
Happy Birthday snoozer.
Gers - my DD works for Arran Aromatics in Glasgow, sorry you couldn't get to the Island.
nmlc - sorry to hear of your family member.
Hope all the poorlies are feeling better today. Take care. XX0 -
Good morning everyone
It's going to be a bright and sunny day here this morning I believe. The sun is coming up and it's feeling very mild. Hubby has just left for work and the girls are eating their breakfast. I have had a cup of tea so I can function.
Today I must make lasagnes as I didn't manage it the other day. I have had lots of visitors and the days have just run away from me. One of my friends has messaged me to say that they are in a bad way so I will be phoning her later to see if she is up to coming here for a coffee.
My IBS has been plagueing me for a couple of days now so I am hoping it finally settles today. I have my yearly M.O.T coming up with my doctor next month and I will have a list as long as my arm to go through by then:o:o. I rarely bother him for the rest of the year though so I suppose it's all swings and roundabouts.
I can't think of what else to say so I shall just hope you all have a great day xx0 -
Morning all,
Nice bright day here off to work for me but a nice short week this week after the long one last week, only three days this week.
Something and chips for dinner tonight will go and look in the freezer after this.
I need to have a hoover through tonight and the shopping is being delivered too.
I must phone the vet tonight re Evie, I just want her to check her over and make sure her jabs are up to date, and talk to her about the lady op.
Topsy well done to your ds xx
Have good days all xx
:bdaycake: Happy Birthday Snoozer xx0 -
Morning all. A bit of a dull start but supposed to improve. What a flippin' night last night. I'm not the best of sleepers at the best of times, but last night I was cough, cough, cough and, at the same time, there was a battery beeping in one of the smoke alarms. Grr it was driving me mad! The thing is, since I got up and tried to track down which one, it has stopped!! As has the dry tickly cough!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO SNOOZER!!! Have a lovely day. I still have all my cards up from Saturday but suppose I ought to take them down now! The big 70th balloon is still looking as good as new so I fear that will be with me for a while yet!
Well today is shopping day but, until my BSD book is delivered, I'm not sure just what foods I'll need! May just do the usual shop and do a separate shop for all the extras when the book arrives. Mr TA will be eating normally, as will the DGDs when we have them, so nothing will be wasted.
And talking of the DGDs they are back with us for late tea (after their swimming/diving clubs) and then a sleepover. I think I will do a Bolognese Bake as they all enjoy that and are always 'starving' after the exercise! I just have one pack of mince left in the freezer so need to stock up on that. And chicken fillets and thighs too.
Have a good day all (((HUGS))) where wanted/needed and take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning :hello:
topsy That's great news :T Hope the medical goes well x
I've learned a few things about some people this week and I've decided to completely cut them off. I didn't have much to do with them anyway tbh, but this decision is still strangely freeing, lol.
My leg is only just starting to improve again after Scampi sent me flying a couple of weeks ago. I'm a bit miffed because I've had to stay very close to home with him in case it 'gives', I can hardy walk if that happens. I want to get out and about properly again so he can run around over the field and meet up with his new mates, plus there's one person and her dog that I'd like to meet up with again on a regular basis and I haven't been able to do that yet.
Still no sign of my cucumber seedlings but the tomatoes are doing well.
One of my favourite bloggers has just published a crochet book. The first half is a story, with the pictures featuring things she has designed, the second half has the patterns for everything that's in the pictures. I ordered it and it arrived yesterday, I'm going to attempt every pattern over the next few weeks.
Just normal housework today so that won't take long. I'll be working on my blanket this afternoon, I have too many projects on the go and I need to concentrate on one at a time otherwise I'll never actually finish any of them

Morning everyone,
Foggy here too but we are meant to have a sunny afternoon.
Did my yoga yesterday and boy I feel it today, hadn't realise how much flexibility had lost despite regular exercise. My right hip especially refused to go into some positions :rotfl: so think it's a good thing have started again, can only help.
Took Bill out in the afternoon but he struggled a bit so we're only out for half an hour, am hoping the warmer weather will help but will limit his ridden work going forward, must admit am feeling a bit low today about it all, feel so sorry for my lad
Happy Birthday Snoozer, hope you have a lovely day.
Hugs to all poorlies x have a good day all x0 -
Hi everyone,
Thank you for the good wishes. We'll be heading off to Norfolk in a couple of hours. We are going to stop at Blickling Hall on the way to the hotel, we've visited the property before (Anne Boleyn was born there) but not for almost 30 years.
I had a nightmare afternoon yesterday with the Good Neighbours phone, there were a number of complicated requests for transport, resulting in me being on the phone all afternoon. I think I'm going to have to give it up or the stress of it will make me ill.
Lainey, poor Bill, I hope the warmer weather does help.
Have a good day.0 -
Morning all.
A quiet day for me today. I don't have my Grandson as he is on holiday with his Mummy and Daddy.
Hubby finishes work for the weekend tonight as the car is in the garage tomorrow for repairs.
Onwards and forwards

Good Morning everyone, another sunny day here and not cold so I'm continuing to enjoy this benign spell of weather. He Who Knows is up with DD1 again today as the other door is being fitted and will be home this evening. I'm looking after my doggy pal Mollie the Collie this morning as her 'grandparents' who normally have her are off for a hospital appointment. I'll take her for a nice walk this morning and then have Cookie to walk this afternoon, gosh I'll be fit (or fit for nothing) after that! DD2 asked yesterday if I could go to them on Monday to look after my Zebra child as his Daddy has a commitment that won't get him back in time to do the nursery pick up so I'll go to them on Sunday from DD1 where I'll be for a concert on Saturday. The choral society are performing Elgars' The Apostles in the Cathedral, it's such a beautiful piece I'm looking forward to it very much. Busy, busy, busy for a while but nice!!!
Have yourselves a lovely day everyone, Lyn xxx.0
