Door canopy - rain run-off question

We have a flat door canopy over the front door which was installed by the house builder. It has no guttering. It looks similar to the bottom middle picture here:

All the houses in our street have them and don't seem to have a problem. However when it rains, water is running off ours at one side towards the back of the canopy and running onto the house wall. It is beginning to discolour the brickwork (green) and erode the mortar in one particular spot.

My question is, as the canopy is flat and has no guttering, where should the water be running off? Presumably it's not supposed to run down the wall?
