toxic fume warning light
Today a warning light came on my Renault Kangoo.
Drove to the shops OK, 5miles, on way home noticed a symbol like an engine had come on. The manual says its a toxic fume warning.
I had filled up yesterday at Asda, and the tank was quite low, is this a coincidence or do you think may be 'dirty' fuel, or dregs from tank as it was low?

Petrol or diesel?
The pickup in the tank ALWAYS takes from the bottom of the tank, it doesn't float on the top - the whole "dregs" thing is an urban myth.0 -
Thanks for the response.
Its Petrol 1.6l Automatic, it also feels rough, and like it may cut out when idleing.0 -

But it can be water in the bottom of the tank, the ethanol in petrol will separate over time (phase separation), leaving a layer of water+ethanol in the tank, this can happen in car, but it does happen at the petrol station and to the unlucky sod that fills up after a fresh fuel delivery has churned up the underground tanks.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

It was an Asda filling station, not a backwoods one-rusting-pump place. You aren't going to have problems with lack of turnover there.
The pickup is ALWAYS at the bottom of the tank, so filling up or running it low will not affect what it picks up.0 -
Almost certainly contaminated fuel. Contact Asda, and demand compensation.
Alternatively - it may be something like an oxygen or lambda sensor gone wrong. Get it to a decent indy mechanic who knows what he's doing, and let him check it over. I've had the "engine warning" light come on in my car a few times over the years, in every case it's been one of these damned sensors, but they're cheap and easy to replace - as long as you stay away from the main stealers.0 -

Thanks all, I'll speak to Asda, then look for a mechanic.0

Had diagnostics done and it was the coil pack, now replaced, and running well.
Thanks all0
