Nuisance phone calls after going on google maps

I put my new business on Google maps 4 days ago and since then I've had literally 40 phone calls per day asking me to change the electric supply. It's on my mobile so I keep blocking the numbers but I'm still getting more. Sometimes it doesn't even ring, they just send a voicemail. Anything I can do and how long does it go on for?

Could be a coincidence - my mobile mumber has been public on my website and google maps for several years and I've never had an electricity call0

I think it must be a local thing then as the people in the shop next to me had it as well when they went on Google maps. I've had 6 phone calls today and it's only midday. Hopefully they will get fed up in the end.0

I run an online business directory and are plagued by cold calling companies who go through my directory and then cold call the businesses listed with me.
What they tend to do is go through recent listings pages as these tend to be new startups and new businesses which they see as easy pray as they tend to be more naïve.
They're probably doing the same with Google Maps, as soon as they see a new listing that hasn't appeared before they will be on to them in the hope they are early enough before the business owner has been called by all the other cold callers.
Edit: Just to add, they do tend to work in areas too, quite often I'll see them going through the same county or town pages0 -
You can register business and mobile numbers on the Telephone Preference Service now. It will take a while, but could help.Signature removed for peace of mind0

Thanks. I'll give that a go.0

Get a premium number registered .... keep them talking if they phone. If a real customer phones say you'll phone them straight back.0
