Thanks for that info. Something very valuable to know. Exactly the kind of valuable advice that this forum is so good for. We have a price including fitting of the kitchen and another price if we fit it ourselves. Definitely something to take into consideration.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...

i've just had a kitchen from diy-kitchens. My fitter hadn't used them before so was a little dubious.
However, he is an experienced fitter and a professional. He took all of the measurements himself. The website has a section where you can print off a scaled grid and cut out and stick the units on so he was able to approve my design and tell me how many end panels etc were needed.
There were a few teething problems and the sent the wrong handles but the finished result is excellent, the fitter was very impressed with the product and price, and the fact that all the units come rigid, with doors attached etc.
He would be very happy to fit one of their kitchens again.
So my advice would be to save a few quid, but get your fitter involved.0 -
I thought the same as Hoploz when we did ours. We were told before we ordered that there are often short deliveries with kitchens because there is so much stuff that has to be delivered.
We got quotes from Howden's, Benchmarx and Magnet and compared them to DIY kitchens. Magnet was far higher than any of the others.
We went with Howden's in the end, mostly because we liked their kitchen the most. We did have some issues with bits and pieces under/over delivered. We got the price down to around the same as DIY kitchens though, they do drop the prices quite a lot of you play different manufacturers off against each other. Shows how much profit is in it really!
Obviously DIY kitchens might have been more accurate with the delivery, but I'm really happy with our kitchen now and I'm glad we went with Howden's.0 -
We got all of our kitchens from B and Q. On one of them, we took the measurements over, they had a kitchen chap with a computer and he drew out a 3D plan, with all the bits and pieces fitted in;cookers, fridge etc. They didn't charge for it, even if we had decided to go elsewhere.0
