Driveway before porch

Hey

So I'm looking to add a porch onto my house along with some internal work being done, but I'm in desperate need for a new driveway.

It makes sense to have the driveway done after the porch and other work, but I have the money for the driveway now and it's in a bad way.

Would it be a bad decision to have the driveway done now?

Thanks
Just have a little faith

    Only you really know?

My worry would be that the new work could damage the porch.

I bet my drive is worse and I shall wait until I have a new wall before I tear it up and replace it! I would hate to have unnecessary joins in the finish just because I couldn't wait.

I'd say it was more the other way round. New drive the porch means removing part of it, new footings. Building materials, waste and skips/lorries on new drive. Not to mention staining from cement etc.

It depends if the drive meets the footprint of the porch.

Then, if you are sure no heavy lorries will be needed, it might not make a difference. A neighbour of mine once did his drive and then went for an extension. Not a great result with large lorries on brick paviours!

Unless the drive is dangerous, I'd be inclined to do the porch first.

Porch first would be preferable. If you do driveway first, just make sure there's no heavy trucks on your new driveway when you come to do the porch (as mentioned above). You'll probably find that once the porch is made, you'll need a pavior to finish the drive off again around it. Shouldnt be more than an hours job I'd have thought, depending on the size of the porch. Make sure you keep some spares of whichever bricks/blocks you use for the drive.

I'm in the same position. I'm having the porch done first, as this will involve storing stuff including a skip on the driveway. Then I'll have the drive done later.
