i want to amend the text on a PDF document and don't seem able to accomplish it. There is an Adobe Reader but this involves paying for an annual package. Is there an easy way of changing the text for free? I have the documents both on Word and Open office so I have options. Any suggestions please.

This was answered just a couple of weeks ago on this very forum (and I am sure many times on other fora). Enter your need in the search box and you should find it.0

You say you have the document in Word format, so simply make any amendments in Word then click Save As and unless it's an old version of Word amongst all the different save options should be one to save as a .pdf
I have Word 2013 and use that option frequently.... DaveHappily retired and enjoying my 14th year of leisureI am cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.Bring me sunshine in your smile0 -
Or even in Open Office. That has had a save as PDF for ages. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

...as per the above - modifying PDF is next to nigh impossible
(That's why they are used for things like bank statements and unalterable documents for archive purposes - which is one of their objective)
Always go back to the original source word/excel/image and modify that in the native program and then re-convert to pdf.0 -
You can modify a pdf with Acrobat Pro, but it costs a lot. As above, if it's in Word, amend and covert to pdf.0

With the appropriate software it's not that hard.
Acrobat Pro or PDF Converter are two that spring to mind. Even good old Photoshop can do a passable job.0 -
use a online 'pdf to word' converter,
edit the document
save as pdf via word or openoffice.0 -
Adobe Reader is a free download, buy you can't edit with it. The whole point of a PDF is that editing it is is not easy without specialist software. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

PDFXChange Editor - http://tracker-software.com/product/pdf-xchange-editor
Although some of its features only come in the paid for version, editing text is available in the free version. And an excellent PDF viewer as well.0 -
Try this http://www.pdfescape.com/ Ive use it a few times and it works for me0
