Default Date Correction

Hi,
I was declared BR in Feb 2011, currently in the process of cleaning up my credit file.
I have a query regarding a mortgage default date.
The default date shown on my credit file for the mortgage is May 2012.
Should the default date be the same date as my BR?
If so, who do I contact to get the file corrected, the CRA or the Mortgage company?
Are there any template letters available for this purpose?.
Thanks
Doris

If the shortfall debt eventually fell into the BR, then yes they should backdate the default date to the BR date.

Most mortgage companies prefer to be awkward though, and will refuse. So you may need to take it to the FOS in the end.
Note: As it says there, take to the FOS before the ICO, as the ICO are for some reason choosing to ignore their own guidelines on this.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
