Expedia not ATOL Protected

Options
Hi

I'm looking at booking a holiday and booking the hotel on Expedia and flights on sky scanner I can save around £600 compared to booking everything through Expedia, however if just booking the hotel with Expedia the booking is not ATOL protected, so is there any travel insurance which would protect me?

Thanks

You would need to check you are actually comparing fairly
I would be very wary of a number of the third party sites that advertise low fares through skyscanner....many do not have live pricing and use fares long gone/never available to ensure they come out cheapest on the comparison. When you go to book you will often find flight price recalculated, commonly you make your request to book and pay your money then get a call within a couple of days to advise that that fare is sold out and you need to pay £x more to secure the seat (or wait weeks for a refund) not unusual to end up paying the same or more than with the airline direct
  • You would be better booking flights direct with the airline than using some of the very shonky companies that advertise on on it. Their prices aren't live, and often don't exist by the time they get around to booking your flight for you.

Accommodation only bookings cannot be Atol protected as there is no flight involved. Atol only covers for financial failure, but your insurance should cover supplier failure anyway.

Thanks, flights with virgin Atlantic so I'll check their site tonight!

So I just need to make sure I have fail to supply in my policy, that's great thanks

It's not fail to supply, it's supplier failure, and that only covers if the supplier fails financially ie goes bust.
