Grand Canyon and helicopter trip.

Hi, 4 of us off to Vegas next month for four nights, none of us been before so we want to do the Grand Canyon trip in a chopper.
I've looked online and the prices varies and due to the short space of time where in Vegas we want to do the four hour trip where they pick up from hotel and return you there as part of package.
Maverick look quite good with good write ups as well.
So what I'm asking has anyone on here got any good recommendations or tips for the best company to use.
Thanks.

Don't know the answer to your question.

But I'd much rather have four nights in a Western Cabin at a Grand Canyon a North rim than four nights in Vegas!

You'll probably get some answers on the Las Vegas thread: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5380434
But whatever you do do, don't say what Peaceful said, they'll throw things at you.

Did the helicopter trip about 10 yrs ago and it's fabulous! Had the seat next to the pilot as well (they ask your weight so they can equally distribute) so glass was right under my feet and could see straight down to the canyon floor.

Can't remember the name of the company though and may have changed by now anyway.

Enjoy Vegas - it's a bit mad but lots of fun too!

The other well-known helicopter company is Papillon.

Here's a video of a helicopter trip from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon in the West Rim area, which included landing at the bottom of the canyon near the river:

For contrast (and probably just for interest), this video is of a two-day road trip from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon National Park (the South Rim):

(The North Rim is also part of the national park, but far less developed, more remote, and more difficult to reach.)

We used Maverick and had a great trip - although it was 12 years ago now!

We did the late afternoon trip so flew back in to Vegas as it got dark and got to see all the lights

If anyone's interested, this video does a very good job (IMHO) of describing the differences between the West Rim and the South Rim of the Grand Canyon:

  • If you can spare the time, I would recommend driving to the Canyon and staying overnight. It's a wonderful national park and quite breathtaking to just walk to the rim and look over and enjoy the silence.

Vegas is fun for a night or two, but I would always pick a national park over it. Depends what your preference is.
