Do I have to accept a replacement of faulty goods?

My new bed arrived with a lot of faults which make it unuseable. Missing parts, scratches, and dents so bad that it cannot be assembled. I've requested a refund but haven't heard back from the company yet. I'm a bit worried that the company will insist on a replacement instead. Are they allowed to do this?
It was bought online. I'd really prefer a refund as I'd like to buy from somewhere else. Also, do I have to pay to return it?

If it's within 30 days of purchase you are entitled to reject the bed for a full refund. If it is indeed faulty then no, you should not have to pay to return it.0
