Correct me if I'm wrong but that's not accident only insurance.
Accident only doesn't mean if your dog has an accident it meant if your dog causes someone else to have an accident and they sue you for damages or loss of earnings.
For a broken leg to be covered you need plain old normal insurance that covers vet fees up to however much it cost to sort a broken leg.
That's 3rd party liability cover - 'accident only' isn't a widely seen type, but is available and covers, as OP thinks, cases like a broken leg.0 -
£500 or £1000 per condition is dreadful.
There will be an excess as well, which makes it even worse. I'd self insure if those are the only options. Or maybe try some other insurance companies.
Completely agree! I'm looking at covering £3,000-£5,000 per condition for my dog. Having recently seen how easy it is for vets bills to escalate (£2000 just for MRI scan) and being faced with a £4,500 vet bill for a cat with a urethral obstruction then £500 isn't even going to cover initial consultation and diagnosis, let alone any treatment.0 -
Thanks everyone again.
I still have done anything about it and her insurance runs out on 1st April.
I will have a final look around today, but I think I am decided on a few things thanks to you good people.
Time limited up to at least £3,000.
Accident only is not enough.Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010
Mortgages (End 2017) - £180,235.03
(End 2021) - £131,215.25 DID IT!!!
(End 2022) - Target £116,213.810 -
If your insurance runs out on 1st April ...
Make sure you overlap by 2 weeks as the new one will cover accidents only for the first 2 weeks after you take it. Don't put yourself in difficult position. Make sure you overlap by 2 weeks. Read T&C properly. Take up for life and not er condition.0 -
Tesco's quote for our 11 yr old Choc Lab was £140 per month - one minor accident claim for £650 and a number of joint/spine problems - remember this is a labrador! We've no complaints about Tesco Insurance overall, just the increasing cost year on year. Despite all the good work done to highlight how best to save there is no way you can move to another insurer to save money and still be covered for existing conditions. I've taken a 0% cc for 2 yrs and PL/accident insurance with Tesco!0
