Deferred hotel payment (Riu Hotels)

Hi there, my first ever post on here so apologies if its located in the wrong forum.

I was wondering if anyone has ever deferred a hotel payment with Riu Hotels? They give you the option to pay for your reservation one week before you arrive.

Having not done this before I've just had a last minute panic! The hotel I've booked is now sold out for my dates and I just feel a bit in limbo, even though I've been given a reservation number and been given the date when I will be charged by the hotel (one week before arrival). I havent paid anything yet, not even a deposit.

It's a friends wedding so I'd hate for anything to go wrong last minute. I've emailed Riu for a reassuring confirmation but no reply yet....

Thanks
Ian

Nothing to worry about at all.

If you are used to paying for a package holiday in advance I can see you could feel a bit nervy not having to pay yet. The hotel will charge your credit card a week before arrival as they state, so if you turned out to be a "no show" they would still have your money.

I have stayed in many hotels in the Med where payment is not taken until the day of arrival or even day of departure

You have your reservation/confirmation number so that's the important thing.

    Enjoy the wedding

It's happened twice that I've booked a hotel and even paid for to discover that although the reservation was safe no payment had been processed and they just expected payment after we checked out.

I would email the hotel directly for confirmation of the booking, was it made directly with the hotel/ chain or through a broker as weve had instances where broker bookings aren't honoured.
