Morning,
I had a day off work yesterday so I didn’t spent too much time on the laptop, keeping myself busy.
One of the things on my list was to visit Carphone Warehouse and as I was telling my step brother before I left, he managed to fix the problem (he is an IT manager) so it saved me a trip. I suppose I still could’ve went in an complained but I have the stereotypical British mentality of not complaining. Sorted now so no drama.
I think I managed to finish my Xmas shopping. I’ll wrap everything tonight and that way I’ll know for sure. I can’t emphasise enough how this is unlike me to firstly be organised for Xmas 3 weeks out and also to do so and still be healthy financially.
My friend and I have vowed to go to the gym every morning before work, today being the first. I didn’t actually find it that difficult scraping myself out of bed but I’ll no doubt be tired tonight so an early night is on the cards.
I don’t have much else to report actually however I’ll update here should that change.
Have a nice day.0 -
I couldn't ever go to the gym before work. I work out better later in the day.
But good for you doing it! And we'll done on being ready for Christmas0 -
Morning,
Not long back from the gym and feeling refreshed.
Yesterday evening was nice to have the night to myself knowing I'd been to the gym so I went to my friends house to watch the Celtic game and then had an early night. Took some sweets over to my friends so, again, didn't get a NSD. I've a feeling December is going to be one of those months.
Anyway, back to it. Toodlepip.0 -
Good morning,
I've been disappointingly poor with the NSD's this month. It's been the odd, daft little spend that's ruined it for me so nothing to extravagant. It sounds worse than it is.
Today I need to nip out a lunch and go to Braehead Shopping Centre and get myself a red tie and pocket square for my step brother wedding tomorrow. This is the DB that is getting married in Korea next month but legally they need to be officially married here first. So a small ceremony with 10 or people then a nice meal afterwards.
After that I have an Xmas night out with all my friends. There's boxing on in the evening so we'll all be merry and watch that. Determined for the night not to cost a fortune though.
Last night I finished wrapping all my presents and I have maybe 1 or 2 small things I still need to get which is a relief. I'll hopefully sort these on Sunday and that'll be me sorted.
Don't have much else to report. I'll no doubt check back in on Sunday or Monday and let you know how it all went.0 -
How lovely that you get to be part of your brother's celebrations. I know you felt constrained over not going to the other ceremony - I hope you take lots of pictures.
And I guess you are starting to celebrate Christmas now, so it's nice to have some fun stuff to do. I have declined the few work invites that I received as just didn't want to go - nothing to do with expense - just realisation that I would be going for form's sake rather than enjoying the evening, so I just said I couldn't go. No one pressed me or asked why beyond a cursory regret so I'm pleased. I am doing several family things, and several friend things so I won't be missing out and I won't overstretch myself either.LD 12.25 £1600.00/£0700.00 Fn £274.00 LTFn £525 LLTFn £300

I can't believe you have nearly finished your wrapping... I haven't even bought the paper yet!
Joey - its quite liberating to turn things down you don't really want to go to. A few years ago I would just say yes as I assumed I should.... now I quite enjoy saying I'm busy when I don't want to go/ can't be bothered! .... although maybe I am just becoming very antisocial.. time will tell hahaDebt: £14,000 now £2169Emergency Fund: 1000/ £1000:j0 -
Morning,
I had a day off yesterday which meant I had a lovely long weekend.
The wedding on Saturday was very nice. A bit of family politics meant there was the potential for some comments to be said however everyone was civil and the day went perfectly. The bride looked lovely and my step-brother looked taken aback with it all. Joey, as you say, it was nice to be able to see them getting married as I was beating myself up for not travelling to South Korea but I just couldn't afford it. They said they will have a party once there back which will be much more than the 11 people at the ceremony on Saturday. There next door neighbour is a photographer so he offered to take the pics of the day for free which meant my phone was kept in my pocked for the day, some really nice ones of everyone together.
The evening was then spent with my friends as our Xmas party night. Like you guys, I too am turning down some of the invites however for me it's more to do with the cost element. I've a work lunch next week and that'll be me. The night out on Saturday was surprisingly cheap, it was a great night and just goes to show I don't need to spend a fortune to enjoy myself in the city centre.
Sunday was a write off as I spent most of the day in bed.
Monday was a nice day in which I got lots of loose ends tied up and had an early night.
On a financial front, I've not too much to report. I had a phone call from the garage I bought my car from telling me I'm due an upgrade. However to me upgrade means more money, so I'm due another call today to iron out what the options are. Like most other places I get paid early this month, the 21st I think, and I'm going to try and increase the money I save. So this month I put away £500 into savings and I think I'll aim for £550 and increase it slowly each month.
Back to it today. Already been to the gym and I'm sipping on my 2nd coffee of the morning, so I'm going to power through work today!
Have a nice day0 -
Ahh how lovely to experience a winter wedding. It sounds like it was a lovely day.
I had my works function on Friday so felt a bit fuzzy on Saturday. Looking forward to a break now. 3 more days.0 -
