Thanks for stopping by and a huge well done on all the savings you've made! Some cracking ideas, particularly the idea of treating yourself every couple of weeks.
On Saturday my GF and I took a trip into Glasgow to get my phone fixed however they said I've to phone their customer helpdesk (which I was on the call for over an hour) but all is fixed now. The Mrs had bought a Groupon thing for Harvester so we used that while in Glasgow and the food was ok, nothing astounding. We then went home and were in bed for 7pm, watching the TV.
Yesterday was lazy day again, I managed to go to the gym and then we watched the video from her brothers wedding we were at recently followed by a family dinner. So after a relaxing weekend I'm ready to seize the week ahead and get as many NSD's as possible.0 -
Morning,
Yesterday was another NSD and today should be too. I was in a rush this morning and didn’t manage breakfast so I’m starving just now and sooooo tempted to grab a morning roll for a couple of quid but I’ll kick myself if that was to ruin a NSD for me. Just goes to show that the challenge works for me.
Going to my friends gym tonight that I helped him with. I’ll pay the £5 I had already lifted for my normal gym class so it’s already accounted for and I’ll get a NSD.
His gym membership is £35 a month. I currently pay £38 a month but my gym has everything including a swimming pool, steam room and Jacuzzi whereas his gym doesn’t have any water based things. A bit of a moral dilemma for me.
We had a family dinner on Sunday and after my step-bro left (the one who’s getting married in Korea in January) we discussed if I was going or not. I explained how difficult it is for me to raise those sort of funds by January and so I said I’d do some final thinking in the coming weeks. Another moral dilemma.0 -
Well, well, well. The weather has done a u-turn. Yesterday was pipping hot (warmer than Nigeria and Miami) and this morning it's thunder and lightning - my favourite.
Didn't spend a penny yesterday which is good. Today will be the same except my £5 into the gym (as I didn't go yesterday). Bob from the NST challenge reminded us we've only 11 days left in July so I'm going to really try and spend as little as possible for the remaining few days. If I manage that, by the end of July, I'll more money in my account that I have ever had before. I keep saying it, but it's thanks to YNAB. I can do this!0 -
Yesterday I went to my friends gym and despite helping him build the equipment I still proudly paid my £5 in, not wanting any favours. He now a business to run and not a charity. I think I may take the plunge and change gym, which is a big deal for me (as my GF even pointed out). His gym is £3 cheaper than what I'm paying but I want to support a friends new business. His gym is much smaller than the one I use and it doesn't have a swimming pool etc. It's also further away from my home so need to think about travel times and costs. Hhhhmmm,,,,
Most Thursdays are Fifa nights with my mate. It's his turn to buy the ingredients for the fajitas so a NSD for me hopefully. In saying that, I need to buy white vinegar to try and clear my shower drain as I hear that works with bicarbonate soda. I'll do some more research on other ideas.0 -
White vinegar and bicarb should work but in all honesty if its not the chemicals that bother you, you might find a 99p bottle of drain unblocker from Home Barguns or Be&Em is cheaper and more likely to work.LD 12.25 £1600.00/£0700.00 Fn £274.00 LTFn £525 LLTFn £300

Damn, I just walked past those shops earlier today! Thanks for the tip. I'll maybe nip out and see if i can get a cheap bottle. My shower is slowly becoming a bath if I'm in it for a long time.0

Take out the hairtrap and check that, and also if you can, feel around for anything that might be blocking it. Sometimes if you've left the cap off for any reason, shampoo bottle lids can get in there and block the space.
We had a glass shower panel shatter years ago, and despite endless hoovering some of the bits had clearly got into the trap and eventually covered over the drainage spout. I ended up borrowing a powerful hoover to get them out.
But sometimes its just general clog from use and those drainy cleaners work really well - and will probably cost less than buying white vinegar and bicarb, or around the same. Its also worth checking your downpipe to make sure that its not got knocked by winds or whatever.LD 12.25 £1600.00/£0700.00 Fn £274.00 LTFn £525 LLTFn £300

Talking from experience there Joey I see, thank you.
I'll investigate further tonight and update tomorrow.0 -
Morning,
My friend asked me to pick up the ingredients and he'd give me the money (which he did without prompt, thankfully) so while I was in the SM I thought I'd get some essentials such as shaving foam, toothpaste etc and own brand plug hole unblocker thanks to your post Joey. Before pouring I lifted out the plug and pulled out some of the gunk and then poured down the stuff, let it fester for a couple of hours and then rinsed with hot water. I let the hot water run for a while to also act as a test, no block it appears!!!! Thanks again Joey.
So the small spend in the SM yesterday ruined my NSD but it was needed.
Tonight I'm seeing the mrs and she's offered to cook which should mean a NSD today. Not sure what we'll have but we agreed on a lazy night in front of GoT.
My step-bro and his other half split during the week so I'm going to help him move his stuff out their flat in Edinburgh and bring him back home till he finds a new place. After that, my GF is taking me into Glasgow a few drinks and dinner for my birthday which isn't until Tuesday. So I'll buy her some drinks on Sunday but the night wont be OTT. Might need to remind her of her debt too.0 -
You're more than welcome, and especially if it helps. Maybe make checking the trap part of your weekly bathroom cleaning - it will stop things building up - and even 1/4 of a bottle of drain cleaner can be useful if you do get a blockage (obviously kept tightly sealed and out of reach of small hands).
Enjoy your weekend.LD 12.25 £1600.00/£0700.00 Fn £274.00 LTFn £525 LLTFn £300
