O/S Daily Tuesday 15 March 2016

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them x

Now light, ground drying up after a murky start yesterday sun shone and there was a breeze, and it warmed up – enough to get a line of washing dry. This morning looks very overcast, dull and dreich – forecast is for no rain just dull and dreich.

DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early. DS1 getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly so he can get ready for school.

Dinner was breaded chicken pieces, LO mashed potato, mixed with bacon, wholegrain mustard and mature cheddar topped with grated cheese and re-heated in the oven, beans, land coleslaw/pasta salad for those that wanted some – all eaten and enjoyed and best bit of all – used up LO’s without any waste. I remembered to get the beef out to defrost, so that’ll be made into a casserole this morning and left to cook away, I’ll get the veg done too, so all I have to do is cook it ready for dinner, DS2 has a hospital appointment this afternoon after school, I’m expecting by that time that’ll they’ll be running horrendously late – hence why we have slow cooker casserole.

Yesterday wasn’t a particularly productive day – but I did get the dirty wash basket empty and line dried, the ironing pile is rather large now, so will be doing that later. I need to go to local town today to visit the building society and DS1 has given me a cheque to put into his savings a/c too. Housework and oven cleaning is also on the list – I’ll be putting the oven cleaner on this morning before I go out and that can work all day then when I get back I don’t need to use the oven for dinner tonight I’ll get it cleaned off, if it’s still really bad I’ll leave it on overnight tonight. I just pottered along yesterday and today will be the same, although I have loads I need/want to get done, I’m not going to go flat out it’ll all get done.

Keep safe and well x

    Morning everyone.

    Thanks for the thread nmlc.

Yesterday was a beautiful day and today promises the same. I really enjoyed my walk even if it did show up how unfit I am as I puffed my way up the slopes. I'll do it again today.

There are pink and and very dark blue clouds in the sky and the water is sparkling. I'll be getting the living room rugs in the washing machine very shortly. The winter sheets have been out away until later in the year.

Today is loose, apart from the carpenter calling round at about 5.00pm that is. I'm going to visit a friend in town later but not for long.

Not much else to report so I'll bid you all a Happy Tuesday.

    Morning All

No sunshine here but it's still dry so washing will go out. Nothing else done in the house/garden as I was out last night.

Went to a concert and really enjoyed it, average age around 50 - DD was probably the youngest there! Didn't get in till midnight and of course didn't sleep very well so it will be a long day!

Have a good day. Take care. XX
  • Morning all and thanks NMLC for starting us off. It's a lovely sunny start here but I don't think the sunshine is going to last. The forecasters say we have cloud on the way. (They might be wrong!) The dawn chorus wasn't as spectacular as yesterday, all I could hear was a load of crows!

My garden tidying didn't really get off the ground yesterday! There was a sneaky wind and it didn't feel as warm as I expected so I was soon back in front of the fire!!. The wind seems to have dropped today so I might attempt the manky patio and steps in a bit. I hate that job they get such a mess through the winter.

Have a good day all (((HUGS))) where wanted/needed and take care xx

    Morning all.

Woke up in the early hours with another nightmare but I gave myself a good telling off and eventually went back to sleep.

Off to Mom's this morning. I need to have a word with the staff. In her waking periods on Saturday she was scratching her head and her hair lost its shine. Looking for head lice and found none but I did smell hair spray on her hair. I took away the hair spray when I was told she no longer has her hair washed for that very reason.

I'll just check with the staff. I understand it's well intentioned but no good if it makes her head itch.

    Onwards and forwards

    Have a great day all

    Morning everyone,

Dull and murky here and set to stay like this all day, yesterday was wall to wall sunshine but cold.

The work lunch went well although I resented paying £6.50 for what was basically a ham & cheese toastie with salad garnish and few soggy chips :( The new lady seems nice but works Mon & Wed so will only see her once a week, can see she is coming up against many of the same problems as me so perhaps will suggest we go to lunch one day and compare notes.

Tonight's tea will be veggie pasta as have some bendy stuff that needs using up, might chuck in a couple of veggie sausages as well.

Have a good day and take care all x

    Morning :hello:

It's overcast here. The garden's drying out quickly, it's nice to let Scampi out and not have muddy floors to clear up when he comes back in :D

Mum and dad are popping round this morning, they might bring Little Mate and they might not. His other granny has him on tuesdays while SIL works, her sister is about to have a baby and of course gran will want to be with her if she goes into hospital. So my mum and dad are on standby :D

Not much planned for this afternoon, it'll probably involve crochet, a film and some chocolate.

    Good morning everyone :hello:

I managed a lie in this morning so I am feeling very chipper :). The girls have just left for school and they also remembered to take out the recycling which is a minor miracle in itself.

My friend is coming over later on this morning so will have a quick tidy round. I hope she is feeling better today as she has been a bit sad the last few times she has come round. I have quite a large capacity to listen to moans and groans but eventually it gets to me and I get a bit poorly with anxiety. Well, we shall wait and see what mood she is in today.

I was going to make a beef and vegetable mix for a couple of lasagnes so I will have a lot of chopping up to do. I sit at the table for this so it is not too hard on my back. I'm not sure if I will make them up today though, I might leave the mixture until tomorrow. I have chicken kievs to use up today as well so I think that will be dinner tonight with some baby potatoes and salad.

It's a bit cloudy at the moment but sunshine is forecast for later on this morning. I am thinking about trying to walk around the block. I would take Max as he would love to go out even for just a few minutes.

JackieO, hope the dentist goes well, I am so scared I haven't been for a few years and need a lot of treatment.
redruby, hope your hospital appointment goes well and you get some answers.

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx
