They didn't need to in October but did

But that doesn't mean they need to again.

Id be asking the question but not much else can be done about it other than accepting it or moving on to a better paid job.

    I realise that.

Just feel like I've been conned into doing it for them,if I had known in October that I'd not be paid any extra for it I wouldn't have done it.

Ask about handing back your forklift license, say you don't feel confident using the truck. If its anything like my old work forklift drivers get warnings for every conceivable accident or if used without correct banksman or basically if anyone complains. Not worth the hassle for 25p, for nothing you have to be joking.

Something to consider for future. I would have asked about it at the time.

When the NMW went to 6.70 it took them 4weeks to increase our rate and I was pestering them everyday about it,had I asked back then what will happen in April they'd have told me there isn't a decision yet

We are constantly given "stay safe" lectures and reminded about how dangerous the FLT is.

Pity our pay no longer reflects that

The bit I don't understand is why they increased FLT rate of pay in October when NMW increased only for them to not do it in April

If many staff are on NMW their wage bill will be going up quite a lot when the increase comes in and businesses don't really like that.

In case they look to cut their costs by reducing the number of staff you might be gaining job security rather than extra wages by being more valuable to them than your other colleagues.
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,
Had the whole of their cash in his care.

There is that however our store is constantly under staffed,I seriously doubt the store could operate at an acceptable level minus one or two less
