Recommend me a comping laptop

Since I changed jobs nearly a year ago I've only been able to enter a handful of competitions (used to have a bit time on my hands between tasks). At home I've got an iPad which isn't great for comping and a laptop that takes forever to load up and display a page.
So I'm thinking that I want to get back into the game and wondered if anyone could recommend a cheapish laptop that'll be great for entering competitions quickly and easily from home.

Ive got a Toshiba Satellite bought from PC World about a year and half ago for around £270 have never had a problem with it and it is super fast which is a bonus0

Mines a Toshiba as well, except it was an Argos refurb so cheaper than brand new but still had a years warranty. Had it a few years now and still going strong. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
I'd also recommend the Toshiba Satellite, its a great laptop and reasonably priced.0

Asus X205 - has 10inch screen, quad atom processor and SSD and the battery lasts 8 to 10 hours
HP X2 which I think also has 10 inch screen and quad atom processor and long battery life and this one can also be used as a tablet.
The main problem these days - whether on mobile or fixed broadband - is the number and size of the ads that get downloaded by a great many sites onto your device, the size of the things and the way they are presented as all singing and dancing with long scripts - all of which takes time to download and slows down the delivery of the stuff you really want to see and gobbles up your data allowance - this, I think, is the main problem.
EDIT - also the fact that a lot of ads are stuck right on the scroll bar and a slight shake of your hand brings the blasted things up, and loads of them fire up if you happen to move your mouse across them, some of them cannot be avoided and adblockers don't stop them all.
Not only ads, but a lot of videos now as well. Sure, you can stop them automatically playing but they still download in the background.0 -

I've used a chromebook for years and wouldn't use anything else.0

My laptop is a toshiba but I tend to do most of my comping on my iPad.2016: mascot experience, 2 books, event tickets x2, walkers goodies, box subscription0

Mine is a Toshiba Satellite as well! two years old and from Argos (It was a Christmas gift) Only problem's I've had with it are the Keyboard had to be replaced (three weeks out of warranty Dmmn it!) Because I spilt my meds all over it
Also My Mouse pad has started sticking (That is my brother's fault though-too heavy handed) and my charger snapped so I pinched someone else's
It's been put through it's paces and still hasn't blown up on me so It's a good machine (it's lasted longer than some other laptops I've had)

If you don''t use your old laptop for anything else, have you considered this??? I can't vouch for it personally but a mate installed it on his old laptop and turned it from a slow piece of junk to a reasonably fast 'chromebook'0
