Wise to tell bank in advance?

Doesn't matter. The point is you can't mention terrorists and money launderers without also mentioning pedophiles. Together they form the "general excuse" for making life more difficult for everyone else.0 -
You can, and I did.
Yes, but you got it wrong.
Seriously though, isn't it a fact that whenever banks, the government or any other element of the Establishment wish to impose some sort of restriction or surveillance measure they all-too-readily jump to the pedophile/money launder/terrorist excuse for doing so?0 -
Which world are you living in? One without international drug dealers and terrorists? Wouldn't we all like to.
No need to answer, as this is my last comment in this thread. You are on my blocked list now, anyway, GingerBob, as I am no longer interested in reading what you say.0 -

Good. And good riddance to you.0 -
It can do no harm to tell your bank in advance.
Another thought. If there is anything that you want from your bank, the time when all that money is sitting in your account might be the best time to ask for it ......0 -
If you're revising £170,000 worth of investments, are you using a financial adviser?
And if so, can't they move the money through their client account for you?0 -
Shortly my wife and I will be revising our investments and that will mean large amounts passing through our accounts.
In view of some of the tales of suspended accounts is it a good idea to inform the bank before the transactions commence? They could stretch over a couple of months.
Depends on where the money is coming from and to a lesser extent on where it's going. For example if the money is being transferred from a U.K. financial institution you don't have anything to worry about so no need to tell the bank in advance. But if it's paid in in cash start worrying now. Also pay attention to the Bank's limits with regard to deposits.0 -
I find the suggestion that if a bank blocks your accounts as they suspect money laundering you can get it unblocked just by saying "I'm not money laundering" quite hard to believe - same for doing that pre-emptively.
If they decide to block the account/investigate, surely they'll want documentary proof and not just an unsubstantiated assurance? Otherwise, why can't a money launderer just do the exact same thing?0
