booking a solo holiday

Easter's not too bad, we've had some reasonable deals the last few years, not always over Easter itself but in the Easter school holidays. Around £75pp return flights, hotels around £70/night for 4 of us. City trips in Europe.Doshwaster wrote: »I would avoid traditional package holiday companies for solo trips as their business model is based on couple and families but you can get some good deals on flight+hotel type bookings through the likes of Expedia, Alpharooms etc. I've had some excellent value trips through British Airways City Breaks.
However, I would think twice about going away for Easter as it will be peak prices and everywhere will be crowded. I did look at going away myself but the prices were just silly. Better to wait a few weeks until the schools are back and then you'll get something for less than half the price.
OP have a look at hostels, they are excellent for solo travellers, far friendlier than hotels, don't have to sleep in a dorm most do private rooms. Been discussed here a lot, search the board.0 -

This year is even worse for the travel industry as no one wants to travel during the European Championships until England are kicked out and we have something special happening on June 23rd..
However the prices for Easter, Half Term and the Summer are very high already. There will be no last minute bargains to Spain or Portugal this year, last minute holidays will be to Turkey.........
The fact the European Champs are on is a major reason to go on holiday for lot's of people.

I usually go away the last week of June - typically the Spain or Portugal - but I haven't booked anything yet as the prices are high everywhere and just getting higher. Demand for the European Med is especially high as people are avoiding North Africa this year.
Looks like I might be off to Turkey...0 -

The only advice I'm going to give for finding cheap deals is don't avoid anywhere.
That being said, for sanity's sake, you may want to avoid dodgy agents found on Skyscanner like Opodo/eDreams etc. (I don't avoid them and get great bargains, but you have to be ready for trouble!). So a less punchy bit of advice may be "don't avoid anywhere based on a preconception that they'll be too expensive".0 -

A perfectly good place to holiday. I have much more desire to go and visit Turkey again (I went last December) than I do to see Spain for the millionth time!0 -

I don't know why but Turkey has never really appealed to me but it looks like the VFM choice for this year so it could be time to take the plunge.0 -

Without knowing your exact tastes I can't wholeheartedly recommend it, but I think you'll struggle to have a bad holiday there no matter what you like.
The Mediterranean coast is full of resorts for those who just want a "bucket and spade" holiday, and for the more adventurous there are lots of sites across the huge country to see - all connected well with cheap, decent transport. I didn't go to the coast when I was there (it was the middle of Winter - I didn't expect Turkey to be the only stop on my mini Euro-trip where I'd be walking on snow and ice!) but if you want some ideas let me know.0 -
Is postal voting not going to be an option? :huh:Alan_Bowen wrote: »For those in the know, June is always good value due to exam season in schools and Universities. Last year, I had booked Singapore Trip with my family. Singapore climate is very cold and hotel rooms were very decent. Overall it was a pleasant experience with Vani Holidays If you are looking for best travel package I will be suggested for vani holiday’s .I was really satisfied with their services.0
