Cheap train ticket tips for SWT Weymouth - Basingstoke to London Waterloo

Hi all - been using this trick for a reasonable amount of time but I'm not sure how long they'll leave it open for.
I've put a web page up at http://www.railuk.org/tc/Brighton_tickets.htm to explain it all. The Southampton Central - Brighton is used all the way to Basingstoke as the ticket is priced by Southern and they 'assume' you're going the direct route.
Enjoy.

What ticket types are you using - standard and cheap day returns depending on the time to Brighton route not London?
And why a zone 1-6 travelcard - unless you actually need it? From Clapham Junction a zone 1-2 would normally be enough and save a bit more.
It's not really a loophole, more a question of the Routing Guide. Not that easy to change...0 -
SDRs for the "anytime" and CDRs for the "after 0900" - the CDR restriction code is B3 and states:
OUTWARD TRAVEL By any train except those timed to depart Monday to Fridays before 0900 RETURN TRAVEL By any train
Indeed a Zone 1-2 ODT is also totally fine - I only mentioned zone 1-6 as thats the typical rail enthusiast (which it is written for). And I wouldn't say the routing guide is hard to change, a Doncaster - York "any permitted" ticket is now valid only via the ECML (ie, not via Leeds).
Minus £1.80 off the fare listed for the Zone 1-2 fare. Of course it all works out a lot cheaper too on a railcard.0
