HD – detail like you’ve never seen before
High Definition is the greatest advancement in television technology since black and white changed to colour. A TV bearing the ‘HD Ready’ logo has the ability to display High Definition broadcasts of 720 or 1080 lines, as opposed to ‘standard’ broadcasts of 625 lines. The detail HD delivers is staggering. A HD screen contains more pixels which allows you to see every blade of grass, every thread, every feather in crystal clear clarity.
FREEVIEW included
All Tevion HD TVs now include ‘built-in’ Freeview, which means you will have a greater number of Digital channels (and radio programmes) to choose from in an instant. Plus, thanks to the RED button facility, you can interact with your TV, actually taking part in the programme you’re watching.

The contrast and response specs are good but not great, and there is only 1 HDMI socket but you get freeview built in. On paper it is a good budget buy.

If I find a review (once someone has bought one) I will link it here.

  • I bought one today picture not bad, one problem is voice not in sync with picture this is not due to the ariel as previous tv was ok.
  • I got one yesterday and have the same voice sync problem.
Will be returning it to store.

I got one of these yesterday and had the problem with the sound/picture sync. I was going to take it back but thought I'd try my old freeview box first - problem solved! Now have an excellent picture and will be using a VM cable box soon which should be even better.

Basically the digital receiver in these sets is c**p, but the screen itself is fine. Just thought I'd let you know.
  • I thought of buying one of these sets but thought better of it as expected the stories of woe to begin almost immediately :(

I find it sad the way that Aldi seems to have got itself into a real rut with flawed electronics time and time again in recent years, after some good bargains in the early 2000's - eg bought 3 desktop computers for self/friend that gave champion service.

In recent years the web is littered with the stories of people who've bought Aldi electronics TV/DVD/PVR etc that patently failed to be of merchantable quality or meet the advertised specifications out of the box - I myself had to returne 2 PVRs in 2005 and 2006 that wouldn't work for 24hrs without going bonkers, and an upscaling DVD player that gave up within a couple of months - and here they seem to go yet again with a fundamental flaw.

And so many people returning BIG value items upto 12 months after purchase under the then excellent 'Aldi 1 year satisfaction guarantee', rather than under contract/sale of goods law, meant we all lost the benefit of that 1yr deal, and now get just 30-days for sale or return.

(Meanwhile I'm still trying to get my 3yr warranty £30 Aldi Lawn Rake working again - belt went, 10 minute 70p phone call later I was still in a queue of unknown length/number and resorted to post, and found cog has gone too when I tried to fit replacement belt - 10 minutes 70p phone call later still in a queue blah blah - argh!)

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
Also bought this TV and have the same issue with the voices out of synch on freeview. Real shame but think I'll just hook up my standalone freeview box as a workaround.
  • I can confirm the Sound/Sync problem is with the built-in free-view unit and not anything else, as i purchased the stand-alone Tevion free-view box from Aldi last week and this is the same software and also will lose sync :-(

Maybe a future Software update will correct this sync issue.

I would like peoples opinion on the Sound for the LCD tv, is it really this poor or do i have a faulty unit ?

The sound is really poor! Actually, I'm going to take my set back within the 30-day period. I could get by with using an external digital receiver and don't use the TV sound anyway but, together with the tacky appearance and a few other niggles, I just don't think it's worth the money on reflection.
  • One thing to note about the free-view.
I had the box in the bedroom from last week and could NOT lock a picture on a lot of the channels, and was wondering how this new aerial wasn't up to it, and was thinking about having it checked.

Then late last night i did a channel re-scan looking for the new Ch4+, and now, without doing anything else, ALL the channels are picture perfect. It still loses sync though

Happy enough with the tv for the price, but yes same problem with the sync.
