BMW 520d - Drivetrain Malfunction
Hi All,
Just looking to see if anyone out there has experienced this problem (or knows of someone who has).
I have a 2011 BMW 520d - 8 speed Auto. It has a full dealer service history and was last given a major service approx July 2015. It has about 78k on the clock and I've owned the car for 14 months - in that time it's never given me any hassle.
On Friday evening, however, I was travelling to the parents house to pick up the wife when an error message appeared on the screen - "Drivetrain - Continue the journey at a moderate speed. Full Performance not available. Have the problem checked by service".
Unfortunately, the car didn't actually allow me to continue at any speed! As soon as the message appeared, I lost all power and rolled to a stop. The engine was still running but sounded like it was really struggling - kind of like the fuel wasn't getting through (despite the 3/4 of a tank). I switched it off and from that point on, couldn't get it started again.
I was very surprised that a car of that age would simply stop working with no warning but hey, it happens! Does anyone out there have any experience with this engine that can maybe point me (and my mechanic) in the right direction?
As always, any advice would be great!
Cheers
J

Sounds like a diesel pump issue. You need to get it on diagnostics as this will show the cause of the problem. Engine will shut down to prevent damage.0

Thanks DLM, I was wondering if it could be a Fuel Pump related issue. I'll get the codes from the garage and post back if I'm still stumped!
Thanks
