I ordered a table and chairs from a local store for delivery to my home. I paid in full at the time of order. They have now since told me they charged me the wrong amount and I need to pay extra. Is this something they can do?

There is nothing you can do, except to pay up.....
Its not extra, its up to the true price of the dining suite.
What was the price on it and how much were you charged for it.
Has it already been delivered and used by you.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Have they delivered the item?Helenlongden wrote: »I ordered a table and chairs from a local store for delivery to my home. I paid in full at the time of order. They have now since told me they charged me the wrong amount and I need to pay extra. Is this something they can do?
If not do you have written terms and conditions e.g. with your receipt?
They cannot force you to pay more than you agreed but in some circumstances they do not need to supply the goods at the price you paid. (In other words in some circumstances if you do not wish to pay extra they should return what you have paid and you can then buy elsewhere.)0 -
I have a receipt that I had to sign and it states I paid in full, they haven't been delivered yet and they now say they won't deliver until I pay the rest as they charged me the wrong price0

Does the receipt give any terms and conditions e.g. that state when the contract is completed?Helenlongden wrote: »I have a receipt that I had to sign and it states I paid in full, they haven't been delivered yet and they now say they won't deliver until I pay the rest as they charged me the wrong price
Also were you aware they had made a mistake in the price?0 -
There was a huge sale on at the store and it was crazy busy, I picked my goods and paid quick sharp and didn't really look at what she charged me, I presumed it was correct. The receipt that I signed doesn't say much but does say "the goods remain the property of Lancashire pine until payment is received in full"0

My understanding is that if the shop sold the item at a price a reasonable person would conclude was a mistake, based on all the circumstances of the case, then the shop does not need to honour that price.
Otherwise, provided you have a firm contract (which it sounds like you do have), then the shop cannot simply increase the price before delivery.
However if the company refuses to supply the item then you may need to take legal action, and there is always the chance you could lose e.g. if the court believes the price was obviously a mistake.
If you are unhappy paying the revised price and cannot negotiate a settlement it may be easiest just asking for your money back.0 -

Is it an obvious error e.g. you were charged £50.00 instead of £500 or something like £250 instead of £280?0 -

If the items were marked up at £500 ,and you paid £300, then its clearly a mistake and 'you not looking' doesnt really matter. Youve got the receipt, and surely you knew what you were going to be paying?
If it was £500 and you were charged say £475, then you could maybe think of maybe theres some multibuy or additional discount.
What were the items priced at, and what did you pay. Are ALL your items itemised on the receipt?0 -

Difficult to believe you had no idea how much you paid, or even expected to pay. That might be understandable with a packet of mints, but a table and chairs, really?0 -
This I find hard to believe, if your buying a purchase as big as a table and chairs you know exactly what it costs. You also know exactly what you are paying hence the paying quick sharp. Yes quick sharp so you can get out of their before they notice.Helenlongden wrote: »There was a huge sale on at the store and it was crazy busy, I picked my goods and paid quick sharp and didn't really look at what she charged me, I presumed it was correct.
