  • Update for everyone:-

Mrs W was at the docters (again) yesterday, and was decided to book apointment for assessment. She the passed out at the surgery and was 'booked' into the surgical ward at the local hospital.
Today she went for ultrasounds to try and rule out some infections...nothing more serious :T Keeping in tonight becuase growing cultures using blood to find out what the infection strain is.

With luck being on our side (not had mch recently - BETTER CHANGE !) she should get home tomorrow, with the instruction to reat until the start of next week.

Also the doc thinks anxiety is causing an issue also. Treatment to follow...

Have not had time today to get SOA worked out, still trying to do work to catch up from earlier today!

Thanks folks for your support, and keep the comments coming...Sorry for being a bit stroppy yesterday, work and personal life was a bit stressful ;)

  • It must be scary, I think you are doing well to be posting here and thinking about what to do next etc. I reall yhope you wife is better and comes home tomorrow.

I really don't know what to suggest, if I was your wife I would be reluctant to give up training and although it means no change in paynow she could always use to work with children - say as a child minder - that makes good money and her being a nurse would be great for parents ( if the whole working in a hospital got was too much or she wanted a career change) bit of a random suggestion but having seen how much my friends pay for child care it seems like a good idea.

hope she gets better, and you make sure you are looking after youself too !

    Nevertheless she persisted.
  • Thanks Buffy,

Thats something I dod not think of, but prosponing for 6-12 months (already has 33% of the credits needed, that can also be carried on at a later date [defering a year]), at the moment would be the better thing.

Should have mentioned to everyone I am going though becoming a driving instructor, and have passed part 1 of the test. I have been for a pre test and been told that I am sitting, now, above test standard, but the test is way out of my price at te moment. But if I could get this payed for, then this would help. Main issue id trying to find the cash to book the test

Personally I would put all thoughts of her getting a full time job on the back burner.

Finding out what is wrong and getting treatment is the most important thing at the moment.

I have personal experience of this last about a year ago. And to be truthful money problems just have to get to the back of the queue.

You may find your wife is hospital for longer than a night as they may well culture blood for up 48 hours to find out what is wrong.

I do hope they find out what is wrong with your wife quickly and get her treatment.

Keep your chin up as best you can as it is horrible when you see that loved ones are in pain and distress and you can't help.

    Yours

    Hi there
I really hope there is good news about your wife, and that the diagnosis is good. Here are some random suggestions that might help

    1) opt to go on paying council tax over 12 months not 10, would save a bit on the montly amount. I think someone also mentioned the single person dicsount as students don't pay it. It may well be if you haven't been claiming, then you can get the difference back dated?

    2) Hope the student services bods can help ref the finances, there may be grants she can get. Also some medical trusts offer help just to the medical professions, so maybe that can be explored. Ditto if you wife is in the union. They sometimes have hardship grants that they can give out.

    3) You haven't mentioned what your debt level is so some general advice. Can you transfer any high APR debt to a low life of balance card, so you are paying less interest? If you have a look at www.whatsthecost.com, there is a calculator you can play around with on there, to see what effect this would have.

    4) How much is the cost of the intructors test? Is there any family that you can borrow this off, so that one of you has got through retraining? Would being a driving instructor increase your current pay? If so then a family loan would be a positive short thing to do.

Can't think of anything else at the moment, but hope this helps
