windows 10 is ready for download pop up

for my sins last year I took advantage of microsofts free win 10 upgrade which installs a reminder on my laptop and tells me every bootup that it is ready to download. I decided not to install win 10 ages ago, how can I get rid of this annoying pop up message.

I have seen posters recommend GWX Control Panel for this very thing. Have not used it myself so the usual cautions - check it fully before downloading and using.

GWX Control Panel is perfectly safe, I use it myself to keep the dreaded w10 at bay ...

I have GWX Control Panel on Windows 7 Pro on 60 PCs and 12 laptops at work, and on all my PCs and laptops at home.

Except the couple which I experimentally upgraded to Windows 10!

However it is inevitable that Windows 10 will eventually end up on all, within two or three years...

I'm using GWX Control Panel on this computer and it does keep it at bay. It'll tell me Windows 10 Files detected then I just go in and switch it off. Am still doing Windows 8.1 updates with no probs.

Funny I haven't installed GWX Control Panel on Dad's laptop and he hasn't reported anything about Windows 10 pestering him.

I pray that when you have to start paying for it it will no longer be available for me.

Another vote for GWX control panel which does the job well and it's the only way I've found of blocking the Win10 notifications, it's ridiculous to have to install software to do that but at least there is a solution.
