O/S Daily Thread for Sunday 13th March

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Chin up, Titus out.

Hoping for a quiet day today, hubby is still in bed, but I've been awake since 5.
Most of the washing is dry including school uniforms for the DGC. I need to finish putting it away as some of it is still on the spare bed.
I really need to tidy the living room today, most other rooms are ok.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning everyone.

    Thanks for the thread HH.

The birds are singing outside again, spring is really on the way. And it feels milder today too, the extra blanket is on the floor so I must have shrugged it off during the night.

Yesterday was rather a washout and I had a fairly leisurely time of it. Just spent a long time looking at maps and then at various places to visit on the way round the top of Scotland. The trip starts and ends at Inverness. Just as it happens my national trust mag arrived the other day and had an article in about travelling from Stirling to Inverness and lots of places to see on that trip so I'm thinking of extending my time away to take them in too.

Today I will get out at some point. Sun is forecast for a couple of hours, meanwhile it's cloudy still.

Breakfast will be some yoghurt and berries again, I'm surprised how well it keeps me going until lunch, much better than my usual porridge ever did.

TA - hope you had a fabulous time and your recovery doesn't take too long.

    Happy Sunday everyone.

    Hi everyone,

TA happy birthday for yesterday, I hope you had a lovely time, you deserve it, I'd be on my knees coping with the things you do.

On that note I shall confess to being in bed at 8.30 last night after spending the day in London on a course about curved patchwork piecing. It was good fun but the table was too low for cutting so by the end of the day I felt as if my back was breaking.

DH put up the corner shelves I wanted in the kitchen to display my Mason Cash bowls and also put up the pewter plate I got in Austria 20 years ago - it seems like yesterday - so the kitchen is now refreshed, I just need to finish going through the cupboards to discard some more items I don't use.

    Have a good day.

    Morning everyone,

Foggy here again, yesterday it didn't really go until mid-afternoon so hoping for earlier today.

Had a lovely relaxing day though and intend to do the same today, have a new book to start and of course the Archers omnibus. Took some braising beef out of the freezer last night so will do that for a late lunch. Will get out in the garden and do some tidying up, also need to check on our oil level as suspect we will need a top up soon. Thanks to the relatively mild winter and careful usage have done well, thankfully prices are quite low at the moment.

Hope everyone has a good day, take care all x
  • Morning all. I had a lovely day yesterday and got some gorgeous presents. Plus loads of flowers, plants and bottles of wine. DD had been down to the restaurant earlier to give them a big 70th birthday balloon and assorted table confetti. The food was perfect and enjoyed by all.

We all went back to DD's for cake and drinks but I think I overdid it with the wine and feel a bit below par this morning! My own fault and I know I won't get any sympathy! Never mind, I don't intend doing much today and an afternoon nap should cure me!

No idea what we are having for lunch but will have a delve in the freezer and look for something easy!

Have a good day all (((HUGS))) where wanted/needed and take care. We have a nice sunny day promised, hope it's the same everywhere else. xx

Thank you Hester for starting us off.

A beautiful morning at the moment. My plans for today are to strip our bed and put the linen in the WM, it looks to be a good day for drying outside.

We have beef today which I did in the slow cooker yesterday, and it made lots of juice for the gracy. Probably won't eat it until this evening because I am not sure of DGD1s plans for the day.

My unit is finished in the kitchen and I am pleased with it. It has 2 drawers, one I keep tea towels in and the other, files with bills and recepts. These have had a sort out so the shredder will be working overtime later.

TA Hope you had a wonderful day and not nursing a sore head this morning.

    Have a good day all

    Good morning everyone :hello:

I've had an eventful couple of days and also had some very bad news about a friend's wife so I will be resting up today. The sun is shining and it looks like it's going to be a beautiful day.

Hubby is going to make dinner tonight so I made myself a fried duck egg sandwich for breakfast. My friend brought round a big bowl of beautiful greeny blue duck eggs so I will be doing lots of baking over the next few days.

I will make this short and sweet as I am feeling very 'spinny' this morning. Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

    Morning :hello:

csarina That made me laugh, when I read your post an image popped into my head – a red setter walking around the house on her back legs, upright like a human, opening and closing doors as she goes :rotfl:
pollyanna The gate has a locking thing on top, you push it down to lock it into place. It has a button you have to push before raising it again, it's really stiff. I knew it was fiddly, I read the amazon reviews before I bought it but I thought I'd never need to use it! I can't just walk through the gate with a cuppa now, I have to use two hands to get the thing open then reach back to the edge of the worktop to retrieve my coffee :D

    Hope you're OK dumpling xx

I've just started selling eggs again, my most loyal customer had first choice of colours :D

Not much needs doing today, just a couple of loads of washing to do and a quick vacuum downstairs. It's quite cold but the sun is shining, hopefully we'll have a peaceful walk this morning (unlike yesterday, lol) then a lazy afternoon.

  • Good Morning everyone, it's beautiful down here today blue sky and sunshine and warmer, lovely! An easy day planned today with house pottering and not much else, I expect He Who Knows will go the allotment for a while, seems silly not to with the dry and warm we have at the moment, I have just a few things to iron and a Cookie walk this afternoon oh and another RUGBY game to watch, so enjoyed the Wales England game yesterday, the new England squad are beginning to look good!

Hope whatever you've got on today that if you have this lovely springlike weather you can find just a small amount of time to be outside and enjoy it, Lyn xxx.
