Santander Mortgage Application

Hey :j!
Read lots of great posts over the last few weeks, congratulations to everyone on any successful purchases/mortgage applications!
Our application went to Santander on Thursday via a MA. Just wanted to hear people's experiences of applying with Santander recently? How long has it taken roughly and how much did they scrutinise you and your bank account etc?! The whole process worries me to be honest , I have been keeping an eye on both Equifax credit and Experian credit reports lately. Experian paints me in 'good' around 900 but Equifax a lot lower, and I know Santander use both for their mortgage applications!
Also, can I use the Santander for Intermederies website to track our application, or is this strictly for the MA?
Many thanks

Bank statements aren't normally requested.
The service is usually quick and easy with Santander being one of the faster lenders, unless it has difficulty getting the valuation done and back due to patchy surveyor cover in some areas.
Lenders are not interested in the "score" peddled by Experian and Equifax so ignore it and if you are, stop paying for it.
Use MATS;-

Thanks kingstreet for the advice!
Glad to hear they are one of the faster lenders, our exchange date is 22nd March, although developer I believe won't mind a little later as we are using H2B as well.
We got the obligatory text from Santander when the application was submitted, but no references so I guess I'll get these off my MA.
What's the AA number? Also I'm not sure which fields you mean...0 -
I'm a FTB and Santander took 6 working days to process and send us out mortgage offer (the actual offer took 4 days to arrive in post after). I was worried it would take ages/be declined as I'm on maternity leave and husband is in a new job, but all was fine. They just asked for some additional info about my work and my broker sent documents over to them as and when they were requested.
If it's any help, they arrange the valuation once the mortgage has been agreed with the I underwriters. So when you get the text that says they have instructed the valuation you have made it over the first hurdle! Good luck!0 -
They asked for 3 months bank statements plus other stuff from me straight off the bat. They didn't question anything on my bank account statements, but then I have nothing dodget on them like payday loans or large gambling payments etc so wasn't expecting any.
Application started - 6/11/15
Mortgage offer received - 19/11/15
Completion was in January.
Went very smoothly and they have an online tracking system that tells you what's going on they e-mail you every step of the way. I went directly and was automatically given this service, so I'm not sure if you get access to this since you went through a broker.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0 -
Thanks for the replies guys! Sounds like Santander are pretty quick and have a good track record so puts me at ease.
I'll see what I hear tomorrow from the MAwish me luck!

Click the link I posted.
Scroll down until you see the two fields for MATS updates.
In the one that says "Case Identifier" type your application number which starts AA.
In the other box which says "Password" type your postcode.
If you do not have your AA number, look on page 2 of the pdf of your mortgage application summary. If you have not been provided with one, ask for one. You need to know what information has been submitted to the lender at the very least...I am a mortgage broker. Thanks Kingstreet, I agree, I should know this information so I will track it down.
Wow carlskinner1 that's so fast?! I would never had imagined that the whole process could be completed in less than 2 weeks let alone in 6 days?!0 -
We've recently purchased a new build using HTB and Santander. Santander were fantastic, we ended up having to have 3 mortgage apps due to issues with HTB (first an admin error by santander not ticking HTB box, second HTB rejecting our mortgage offer as we were porting an existing deal). For each separate application they turned it around within a few hours to get a new deal sent over to our solicitors.0

Santander withdrew from the Mortgage Guarantee scheme a while ago...Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0
