Wahing machine regs

I recently purchased a washing machine to be delivered to a relative over 200 miles away and the delivery person would not even leave it as he said the plumbing was not correct. He said it was against government regulations. I can not find any such regulations. I could just understand if he refused to fit it (a service I had paid for) if there was no waste water pipe (presumably a previous tenants machine drained into the sink) but to say it was against the law to leave the machine that was paid for leaves me almost speechless. Can anyone help with advice on this matter. Thanks everyone

Sometimes they need an additional fitting. What exactly did he say about why he couldn't'fit?
It's possible that in the terms and conditions you signed to say it was a standard fitting?
If you were just guessing- perhaps it wasn't?

Well it may very well be. You can't just drain into the street, without a waste pipe to drain into who knows where your relative would direct it.

There are regulations about waste water and strict ones at that. Phone your local council if you need answers.

Most modern washing mchines need to be connected to the mains cold supply to work correctly. May be the supply was tank fed and wasn't high enough pressure ?
