Anyone know about investing in Gold, after advice

Oh, ok, your juxtaposition of generator and uv light made me assume that you were talking about using electricity to power a uv light for the water treatment. If you have a solar uv system, capable of meaningful water treatment in a uk winter, then I am intrigued! Although I guess that in the average UK winter collecting clean, fresh water might not be the most difficult of the survival challenges!0

At least it requires physical resources and effort to mine gold giving it value, constantly hitting the print button not so much.0 -

You use clean water bottles with water (filtered if you can using cloth or paper) and set them out in the sun for 24 hours plus (could need more days in a UK winter esp here where daylight is short). The UV will kill bugs incl viruses apparently.
And no I have never had to use this method.
And yes, looking at the fields around me full of lakes and ponds where there should be none means water isnt in short supply lol0 -

I've seen that technique and I'm not convinced that the uv effect is as great as the heat effect from the solar gain of the clean PET bottle lying in the sun - quoted temperatures seem to be high enough to substantially reduce the number of viable contaminants. I think If I had a stock of water bottles and sunlight I would rather construct a solar still!
Edit: And no, I've not used any of these techniques (beyond fun science with the kids) and don't ever expect to need them. Nor have I the slightest inclination to hoard gold and ammunition or learn to play the banjo!0
