Paying by credit card

in Credit cards
I have a question about paying by credit card due to the extra protection you get by doing so. I am booking a big trip to celebrate my best friends 40th. We are going to Cuba and is not a cheap trip. I have paid the deposit by credit card and paying the rest off in installments. Do I need to pay the whole trip by card to get the full protection you get by paying by credit card or will I still be fully protected with paying just the deposit by credit card andthe rest by debit card. The reason I ask is because of the fee you have to pay by using credit card, which will add a hefty sum to the cost of the holiday.
if we do have to use the card then we will just have to swallow the extra cost. Normally my holidays are not as expensive so fee is nominal. Any advice would be great

What problems are you anticipating? Only asking as most issues are covered by travel insurance if you fail to take out travel insurance credit card company are not likely to pay out.0

If, and that's possibly a big if*, section 75 is afforded by your purchases, then the deposit will suffice.
* Is there a D-C-S relationship existing? Specifically, are the people you're paying the money to supplying the holiday? Or are they merely acting as a go-between?0 -
If you are paying for you holiday via a third party ie Travel Agent, then S75 wont afford any protection for your holiday.
It only covers direct payments.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
No - whether or not insurance is taken out has no effect on the card company's statutory section 75 liabilities! What problems are you anticipating? Only asking as most issues are covered by travel insurance if you fail to take out travel insurance credit card company are not likely to pay out.
Having said that, as per previous posts then if it's a packaged trip from an agent then paying by credit card would only offer protection against failure of the agent, not the actual trip provider(s)....0 -
Dear All
I am booking through a company called Cuba Direct....and I believe they are not booking via third company providers.0 -
So how many hotels do they own and how many aircraft do they operate?!
^^^
The company you are booking with ARE an agent.... which means that S75 cover doesn't apply. Don't panic though because as long as they are ATOL then that combined with travel insurance (always take it out asap once a trip is booked) will cover you for most things anyway.0
