my wife get pip standard daily living rate and enhanced mobility rate

if I was to apply for carers premium £34.60 I was told if affects housing benefit

how much would be deducted from housing benefit

Are you on a joint benefit claim?

Premiums are only added to income based benefits like ESA, JSA, Income Support and Pension Credit.

If you are on a joint claim for one of these income based benefits then you would need apply for Carer's Allowance first (have you checked you are eligible?)

Then you would receive the Carer's Allowance.

Then you notify the DWP and they deduct the amount of CA from the income based claim (it is counted as income).

Then the DWP add a Carer's premium to the means tested benefit.

BUT you would still be on that means tested benefit which gives you automatic entitlement to full HB according to your circumstances.

In short, if you were eligible for and awarded CA and got the Carer's Premium it would not affect your HB.
