What colour to paint kitchen with red?

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas on colours that match with red other than the creams/magnolia .. We're currently 2/3rd of the way through redoing our kitchen and it's the only thing left undecided and I can't appreciate it until it's all finished.
We've white cupboards, white tiles, silver appliances, red accessories and small bits (kettle cutlery plates blind) My original thought was grey but the hallway joint on is being done a beautiful silver/grey next month and the house is really small so I really want to emphasis the different rooms.
The kitchen is very small but with minimal things so the colour can't be too bold (like a red) as it will stand out way too much.
If it ends up having to be magnolia is there any decent brands that will withhold in the kitchen and not create cracks / steam marks? I don't mind paying out for a decent brand just need something to do us good for 4/5 years.
Thanks!!

Dulux trade diamond Matt. The Dulux centre will mix any colour, go get some colour charts. I have red accessories and the walls are a very pale grey, exactly what grey is the hall? Could still contrast if one is light and the other darker.0

Look up "Colour Wheel" in Auntie Google and on there you will see complementary colours to all the primary and secondary colours (and obviously colours that will clash).0

A light olive colour would be my suggestion0

Personally I'd go with the same grey you're having in the hall or quite a similar one as I find that with lighter colours a cohesion with the colours can give a place a more spacious & open feel. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -

I second cattie's idea. Keeping the same colour through into the kitchen will tie it together and keep the eye moving. Choosing a different colour will break the house into small areas and make it feel smaller.0 -
Thanks the replies really glad I posted now. I can't remember the title of the grey but it's a light grey with a real silvery shimmer about it in the light. It's wall paper though so can't use the same for the kitchen though I could look for something very similar. I wonder if it might look a bit bluey in the kitchen as it's quite well lit but I'll try go a tad darker and see.
I don't have much on the kitchen sides to reduce clutter so I could just buy a new kettle and the odd accessory, if it came too it.
Thanks!0 -

If you've got any bits of the wallpaper left over, you can get it scanned and a paint the same colour mixed up.0
