Help! Tea spilt on macbook air.

OH fell asleep in his chair and tipped his cup of tea on his mac (I know, I know!). He immediately held the mac upside down and switched it off, we have mopped up as much as we can and left it inverted on the table to dry out for the next day or two.
Hopefully there won`t be too much damage as he reacted quickly but does anyone have any more suggestions that might help?
We know not to use the hairdryer on it, and leaving it in a bag of rice doesn`t sound too helpful either.
Keeping our fingers crossed for now!

I'd seriously look at removing the battery as well. There are videos on youtube showing how to do it.
That will involve opening up the case, but will also allow it to dry out a bit more thoroughly.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. There is one important factor that may make a big difference to the outcome and that is how healthy a lifestyle your OH has.
Black tea with no sugar in it and the MacBook may work again fairly soon with little or no noticeable effect of the spillage.
On the other hand, milky tea with sugar in it will probably lead to lots of sticking keys and some non working keys as well.0 -
Probably not going to help op, but I will say that when cough mixture got into the keyboard of our MacBook, I was eventually able to remove some individual keys from the top, clean out and replace. The keyboard on previous generation Macbooks was virtually un-removable, hence I'd never buy another one, it's a bit like owning a car where the tyres can't be changed.0

Quick update- OH tried the Mac tonight and it`s working just fine, so he got away with it this time. He`s ordering a keyboard cover just in case, but he won`t be mixing Mac and tea again in a hurry!
Thanks for the replies, everyone.0 -
