The nearside rear passenger door on my 2001 Megane is stuck and won't open from the outside and the child lock is set so won't open from the inside either.
What can I do to open the door?
MOT is due in less than 2 week too, will it need to open for the MOT?

Front doors have to open from the inside and outside, rears from the outside. So I'm afraid it's a fail if it doesn't get fixed.
Don't know what the child lock levers are like on those, is there any way you can slide something between the door and the frame from inside to release the child lock?
If not then you may have to resort to a little destructive removal of the door trim to get inside the door and release it.0 -
Had a similar problem with a Megane. It is possible to slide a hooked wire between the door and the frame to release the child lock, from the inside. It's not easy and takes time (all afternoon) but is possible. Look at the opposite door for guidance. Tape over the child lock, to prevent it happening again,0

Even if I manage to release the child lock, it'll still not open from the outside and therefore fail the MOT.0

Yes, but when it's open it's a lot easier to get the trim off inside. Fixing it is likely to be a simple job once you've got access.0

After two weeks then your life can only get better; you won't have to drive a french car.0

Has the central locking failed on that door?. Have you tried lifting the locking button. There's usually some form of plastic trim that can be removed to get easier access to it. If you open the window can you hook anything with a wire coat hanger.
I remember a similar problem on one car where part of the locking mechanism had to drop under its own weight. This had become a bit sticky. Hitting the outside of the door helped it drop.0 -

Not sure how to test if the central locking has failed on the door due to it not opening when car is either locked or unlocked.
There is no internal locking button, just a button on the dash to lock/unlock all doors while in the car so can't tell if the door in question is locked or not.
I will try sliding a metal rod in or summit to switch off the child lock but I can see this being a nightmare job with very little patience.0 -
