  • I spoke to my broker today, who predicts that we should receive an update from the underwriters at some point this week - they've asked me to sign a non second property disclaimer today so I think they've now received everything they require.
Fingers crossed for good news now as I'll be gutted if it's bad news :(
  • Hi again Ben, yes I also had to sign the second property disclosure. I think my broker said it was to do with 5% mortgage, and he didn't actually need it till nearer completion but best to do it now. I heard nothing today so I'm going to ring estate agents in morning to see if valuation has been booked. Tomorrow will be three weeks since full application was submitted so hoping to hear something!
  • Hopefully you'll have some good news soon, keep us updated here if possible :)
  • No problem, you too.

I rang estate agents this morning who hadn't heard anything re: valuation, so I rang broker who said ring estate agents! I said I have and they don't know anything, he said he'd chase it up and get back to me tomorrow.

I've had first letter from bank of Ireland today, just with a leaflet enclosed "your mortgage illustration explained". Does have an application number on thou so at least I can ring them myself for an update now!
  • Sounds like you're going round in circles!
My broker called today as BOI had queried a payment made from my current account to a credit card (which I had already disclosed as having a nil balance as this payment was to clear it). So it sounds like they're still going through my application.
  • That's how it feels!
I've heard absolutely nothing so sounds like you're ahead of me!!
Will let you know how I get on tomorrow.
  • After much chasing my valuation is booked for Tuesday. Let me know how you're getting on :)
  • Not great news unfortunately - the valuer went out and couldn't put a value on the property as they feel that there may be an issue with the upstairs flooring and excessive spring (not a clue what that means!).
So now I'm having to instruct a full structural survey to be carried out before we can proceed.. Got a horrible feeling it will end up costing me a ridiculous amount!
Hopefully your valuation goes better than mine.
  • Oh no :(
Hope it's not as bad as you think.
Did you hear straight back from valuation?
  • Within a couple of days, but they're having to post my valuation to me as apparently they don't have the ability to email it. Seems a bit strange with the modern technology available!
