Bank Of Ireland

Hi everyone,

I'm a FTB who submitted my app yesterday via my broker to Bank Of Ireland.
Has anybody else recently applied or been received an offer from them?

Already within 24 hours of receiving my app they've requested 3 months bank statements, although this may just be to tick some boxes off on their checklist upon receiving the app.

Basically, if anyone could share their timescales after using Bank of Ireland it'd be a great help as at the moment I've no idea how long this should/will take!

Thanks,
Ben :j

Ive only used them twice, I cant recall timescales which I take as a good thing as I have no reason to complain. They were pretty straight forward to be honest on both cases and I would not hesitate to use again.

The post office is the BoI with the PO stamp on the front. These service levels should be pretty accurate.

  • That's a great help - thanks again!
  • Hi, I did full application through broker with bank of Ireland on 23rd Feb. I hadn't really heard anything so chased it up yesterday and they said valuation should hopefully be next week. I gave 3 months of bank statements at full mortgage app as broker gave me a list of stuff they need, this included.
  • Sparklecity - did you pay for the valuation upon submitting your full application?
I noticed that they've taken the payment for mine already, so I'd hope they're instructing the valuer shortly.
  • Hi Ben, no they only took the valuation fee last week after I chased it up with broker as i hadn't heard anything. Then it got taken same day and now he's saying valuation should be next week so I think it was the brokers delay rather than bank or Ireland.
  • Quick update - checked and they carried out a full credit check the day after my app was submitted, and the valuation fee was taken from my bank the same day.
Hopefully this is a good sign that things are progressing.
  • I'm only on clear score and don't know how reliable it is but I can only see a soft search done the day after full application was submitted by the company my broker works for. It says 'Id checks to comply with ml regs'.

My plan is to ring estate agents Tuesday if not heard anything by then to see if valuation has been booked.

    Hello!
We applied for a mortgage with the Bank of Ireland (Post Office) through a mortgage advisor last year in Scotland. We had to give 3 months bank statements, payslips... etc

They required a bit of chasing up, as we had to complete in 2 months due to having given notice to our landlord. There was a stressful period of about 3 weeks with no news whatsoever, so we chased up both the BoI and the mortgage advisor. The offer came through the week before our deadline, but it had an error. They managed to fix it and send another offer the day before our deadline.

At the time, they had a 72h turnaround. Although we found the chasing up very stressful, we managed to complete in time and we found them helpful :)

I hope your application goes well. Good luck!
