Mislaid building society account

I have mislaid a building society account. I used to pay into this account from my bank account - I see on my old bank statements money going out on a direct debit every month to an account numbered like this 0622/********.
Does anyone have any idea which bank or building society this might be? I need to try to trace this money. Thank you

Are you sure it was a DD, not a SO?

That's how my DDIs are formatted to Tesco and Egg(YBS) Savings accounts (not the actual number, but 2 numbers separated by a forward slash).

OP, there's a thread on here somewhere listing savings account providers who accept deposits by DD. Maybe if you can find the thread using a forum search and look through the list something will jog your memory?

    EDIT: See here...

My Tesco DDs are formatted a little differently:

    0005********/##### DDR

No idea what ##### means, but it depends on the account number ********

Nationwide BS roll numbers are of that format. Branch 0622 is "63 Victoria Road, Surbiton". Does that look right?

All mine have 9 digits after the separator (not the 8 the OP stated), but you may have hit the nail on the head because applying this logic...

...the prefix on my old 'Instant ISA Saver 2" does relate to my nearest branch (even though I've opened all my Nationwide accounts online).
  • I used to live near there so I will certainly start by checking that out. Thank you!
  • By the way, sorry it took me so long to respond to all of these, i am new to this Forum and my account details show 0 replies so I didn't think anyone had responded. I was obviously looking in the wrong place for the responses, which I have only just found today!
