Ps. Halifax have an approved list of solicitors and you must use one on that list so check with them that the one you want to use is on there0

Thank you very much for providing me with your experience with halifax. Halifax ask people to go with their panel of solicitors, so what did you guys have to do to choose your solicitor? Were you provided a list of their choice?0

Halifax do have underwriters -human ones for their complicated cases and they require lots of detail. We both had A1 credit rating according to them and still got to experience the non- automated side.
Good luck!0 -

Sorry I asked this question as I didn't see your reply. How can I know which solicitor is good/bad, cheap/expensive just looking at their list?fashionvictim wrote: »Halifax do have underwriters -human ones for their complicated cases and they require lots of detail. Thanks fashionvictim. You never told me what your experience was like with the non-automated side? Also how long did it take you and did you succeed in your application?0 -

Do we know each other then?:rotfl:
It was very thorough, those humans check everything. But they kept requesting just one more thing. So very stressful.
Took about 7 weeks from application appointment to offer
And yes was successful
Previously with Halifax had pretty much instant offer subject to valuation, so maybe 2 and half weeks from appointment to offer letter.0 -
lol, no we don't know each other, but it's always interesting to know another's experience.
You said they kept on requesting just one more thing, but can you give any examples? I assume you mean things like salary, bank statements, ID's?0 -

Everyone application is going to different. Just take as much info as you can to the appointment. Payslips are a pretty standard request and bank statements.
At lot of people who will apply with Halifax won't need to supply some of the things I did , it's personal circumstance.0 -
I understand, thanks.0

Hi halifaxmortgage, Luckily the solicitor I'd chosen was already on their list. You can call them and check if the one you want to go with is on the list. Mine's O'Neill Patient Solicitors in Stockport (local to the house I'm buying). It's about £1250 for my solicitors fee, including stamp duty of £190.0
