Hi all
Can I just clarify something regarding twitter competitions? I don't really use twitter myself, only to enter competitions. When the competition post states 'follow and retweet' is that literally all you have to do?
I generally go to the twitter page and hit the 'retweet' and 'like' buttons but I do see people actually tweeting "fab competition/great prize etc" as well. Does this increase your chances do you think or should "retweeting" be enough? I've entered thousands of retweet twitter competitions and never won. I do appreciate that there are hundreds (thousands in some cases) of people entering but just wanted to make sure I am actually doing it right!
TIA :-)

Yes, that's all you have to do..... but, unless the company use an app they can only see the last 20 retweets0

I have won a fair few twitter competitions and in the vast majority of cases I have tweeted some sort of comment. I think only 1-2 were from RT's alone. If I can't think of anything interesting/funny to say then I won't bother because it will just get lost in the sea of "fab competition/great prize" comments.0

I've won 12 prizes on Twitter over the last 12 months - big and small, from£5 to £1000 - and I never comment unless it's a requirement, or a caption for a photo.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Competition Time, Site Feedback and Marriage, Relationships and Families boards. If the entry criteria is simply to Follow & reTweet then that is all you need to do. Making an additional comment should not increase your chances. Promoters would use an API or application to monitor the follows, reTweets etc because a simple search using Twitter's basic features would only come up with the last certain amount of entries, say 100. You will see some people reTweeting all the time, so that when the prize draw is closed they would try to appear in the last 100 entries . Promoters should and must include all entries and not just the last 100. It's tricky to do actually0
