  • Im with Barclays, and I find having a manager at the local branch you ring up and ask questions / sort things out with etc very useful... I dont like the quarterly fees (9.50 i think) but its a business, so you have to expect to pay for somethings surely?

...just a small tip that Lloyds gave us (after lots of questioning)... with most banks during the free period you also dont get interest on your balance so you can open un a free business savings account and transfer any 'extra' cash into that so you get interest on it. We have online banking so you can chunk the money back and forth and it goes into the new account over-night. We tend to keep most money in the savings one and a 'float' so to speak in the main account - just enough to ensure we can cover direct debits, invoices etc, just moving more across as and when we plan to make bigger payments. May be a minute or twos work but means your cash gets interest and at no extra cost :)

  • when i opned the account on friday... they also opened a savings account.... as the business manager said.... the second account is good for putting away money for tax etc.....plus he also signed me for online banking.....

i did ask if the business call centre was in britain or overseas.... and they are in britain.... which i totally agree with.... ( no offence to verseas people) but most of the time i can never understand them... and they dont understand what i am trying to ask.....

plus today i had a phone call to my works mobile from a lovely cs.. lady saying that the account is now active.. and that my cheque/paying in books will be with me shortly...

also asked if there was anything that i needed clarifying.. or if i needed anything.... and she also wished me good luck with the new business.....

it is prob a standard phone call etc from them.. but it did make me feel as though my business was important nad it was personal to me....
