There's no need for them to do this any more - and for the same reason that Aldi have dropped their £5 off vouchers.

Aldi and Lidl are now mainstream. Most people now know they offer far better value than Tesco, Asda etc, and they don't need expensive offers like this to get them into the stores.

The money saved is now being spent on better, larger, brighter stores, which are going to be even more effective in persuading customers to ditch Tesco and the others. The writing's very clearly on the wall for them - this is going to be even more bloody than it has been so far.

The only good thing about the 'weekly offers' for me is that you can sometimes pick up one of the offers with a further 30% off if it is close to its sell by date.

Has anyone joined the Lidl online community? I think that might be the way we make our point effectively.

Not yet a Lidler, Vfm, probably not bother now. Lidl (local)and Aldi are still my supermarkets of choice, though I do shop around.
Higher prices mean that I rarely shop at Tesco and Sainsbury.
Morrison still in the frame but Asda not.

I'm another that has almost stopped going since they dumped the half-price weekends. The Pick of the Weeks have been hugely unexciting compared to getting half-price teabags or whatever. I used to browse every online brochure to see what the half-price offers were and would often find other things I might buy but I've started losing interest now and don't bother most of the time. They had a great hook to get people in which they've now lost. None of us actually know whether or not they now have more or less custom because of the dropping of the half-price weekends. For me, though, they've lost the one thing they had that Aldi hasn't so they've pretty much lost me as a customer as I'd rather go to Aldi. I've popped in only once so far this year and just grabbed a couple of pizzas and some sweetcorn and I could have just got these in Aldi anyway.

I don't have a Lidl in my town but if I was near one at a weekend and their offers were on I'd often go in. I haven't been in one since they stopped doing the weekend offers TBH.

Obviously a business decision by Lidl which they will be monitoring. I suppose it's 'Watch tbis space' to see if the customers they lose/lost did buy other goods, as well as the half price offers. If they don't reinstate, they obviously didn't!

My local Lidl are doing spot reductions....yesterday was Baguette down to 49p though never thought the full 75p was value for money.
Also loads of breaded haddock/cod at reduced price 83p. Bought two packs, should have bought six.
